The open-world RPG Hogwarts Legacy has now gained over 22 million copies sold according to Warner Bros. More Harry Potter games planned.
In a recent interview with Variety, Haddad explained how Warner Bros and developer Avalanche Studio are “proud” to have had such a major success. The game has gone on tobeat the usual top sellerssuch as Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto. Also revealing that players have accumulated more than 707 million hours played with “many” experiencing more than one playthrough.
But Hogwarts Legacy isn’t the only Harry Potter game to be based on the universe. Harry Potter Quidditch Champions is also in the works with playtests expected this year. There are also “a series of other things” that have yet to be revealed. Those “series” of things sounds intriguing as to what that could possibly be. What Haddad does let on is that it “will let the fans be part of this world and stories and characters in deeper and deeper ways”.
Outside of Quidditch Champions, it isn’t clear what else will be released but many have speculated there could be a DLC for Hogwarts Legacy or even a sequel to the well selling game. The empty Quidditch pitch would be a perfect place for Quidditch-themed DLC as it didn’t cover the game but only a series of challenges. However, with Quidditch Champions coming to both mobile and PC, time will only tell if this will impact Legacy.
In case you missed it, the open-world RPG follows the journey of a student entering their 5th year at Hogwarts. Although it’s set in the same universe as Harry Potter, the storyline unfolds in the 1800s. This provides a unique glimpse into the school during a different era, yet it remains nostalgic for those familiar with the books.
But rumours of a goblin rebellion being led by Ranrok have arisen. Together with trusted companions, other students from the school and your professors, it’s up to you to find out why corrupted magic is threatening the wizarding world. The game explored many themes of the books including theUnforgivable Curses.
