Hogwarts Legacy Revealed to Have Tons of Decisions in New Interview

ee Hogwarts Legacy previews unveil that the game has over 100 sidequests, each affecting the main storyline in some way. And Unforgivable Curses.

Portkey Games and Warner Brothers seem to want to place player agency and choice front row and center in the upcoming open-world RPG,Hogwarts Legacy. This action game definitely isn’t your linear affair, and there will be tons of decisions that players will have to make throughout their school year.

The decisions will start right at the onset of the game, where players will have theopportunity to create their very own witch or wizard. They will be able to select various facial features, hairstyles, and skin tones. You will also select between two voice types, masculine or feminine, and then modify the pitch of the voice entirely.

This is to ensure that your creation is uniquely your own. Tweaking aspects such as these will also eventually extend into theRoom of Requirement, which we tackled a few weeks ago. Think of this as our customizable base, aside from whateverHouseCommon Roomwe will be lounging around it.

Players can house tons of useful workstations or just litter their lair with useless junk. Just like yourcharacter, the Room of Requirement will bend itself to your will and can have even the smallest detail tweaked.

Pronunciation aside, another big aspect of player choice will be how they learn and make use of theirpowerful spells. The traditional, normal way that a student would do it is by attending various classes. Under the watchful gaze of your Professors, budding magic users can master powerful incantations without the worry of messing up. You will get to learn standard spells like Lumos, LeviOsa, Flippendo, Incendio, and more.

These spells will then have their practical application in both combat as well as exploration. Speaking of combat, players will also have the choice of whether they approach encounters stealthily, or just go outwandsblazing through the night.

Additionally, you will get access to various abilities not necessarily tied to spells. Examples of these are helpful (and sometimes dangerous) potions that can be gulped down in combat. You may even be able to throw a Mandrake Plant into the middle of yourfoes, stunning them with their shrieking cries.

Since Hogwarts Legacy wants players’ witches and wizards to truly feel like their own. People will not be judged on how they choose to play the game. As such, they will definitely give you the tools whether you decide to go down a darker path.

Just like revealed before, players will have access to various Unforgivable Curses. “It was important for us to give players who sought out to be a Dark Witch or Wizard an opportunity to do so,” stated by Kelly Murphy, the lead designer of Hogwarts Legacy. “If you want to be evil, be evil” she encourages.

As expected, these spells cannot be learned at school. The world will react accordingly, however, whenever you choose to murder someone with an Avada Kedavra. Bystanders may stop and gasp at your appalling disregard for human life, but at least the game gives you that option.

It isn’t clear if wizards can go on an unimpeded rampage through the school grounds, however. Definitely, we will want to see how well these evil options are implemented, considering that there will be no morality orParagon/Renegade Systemjust like inMass Effect.

Hogwarts Legacy will also have a staggering100 side missionsfor players to tackle. Each and every one of these is connected to the main narrative in some way. Though the scope of nuances hasn’t been revealed just yet.

Narrative director Moira Squier claims that “the main storyline is complicated and engaging and involves a variety of different characters and viewpoints, but by giving the player choice moments throughout the game, we allow them to tell their own version of that epic story”.

Seems to me like characters will remember the things that you do (or do not do) for them. The exact order in which you do these side objectives will also have an effect on the overall narrative, and ultimately, thegame’s ending. Everything seems to be truly interconnected in this wizarding world.

Hogwarts Legacy is set to bewitch fans on February 10, provided you have a PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X. Those on previous-gen consoles will need to wait till April 4th, while the Nintendo Switch release is dead last on July 25th.
