Genshin Impact developer announces the turn-based RPG Honkai: Star Rail has racked up over 2 million in sign-ups as it draws closer to launch.
The developer HoYoverse behind the hit online Action-RPG Genshin Impact has gained a new milestone even before the game has released. Honkai: Star Rail, the turn-based RPG has just reached over 2 million in pre-registrations. The game which had its final beta on February 10th, will be coming to PC and mobile. The game is based on its Honkai universe, with a similar art style to Genshin Impact but follows a different combat system and gameplay design.
Signing up for the game comes with bonuses. These are released as part of community based goals with the number of pre-registration. Currently, fans of the game have unlocked three registration rewards, 50,000 Credits, 3 x Star Rail Passes and a “Trailblazer – Welcome” Avatar for reaching the 2 million mark. Further goodies will become available if the numbers reach 3.5 million a 4-Star Character called Serval and for 5 million, 5 more Star Rail passes. Registering for the game is free and the free-to-play model seems to follow suit for Star Rail.
The game is set in a sci-fi open world following the journey of a Trailblazer aboard the Astral Express. While the title does share the same name partly with Honkai Impact 3rd, the game takes place in an alternate universe. But you will see some familiar faces from the previous title with alternate versions. Tasked with assembling a team of fighters, players will use their special combat abilities to their advantage in tactical battles. Star Rail sets out to be a new entry in the Honkai universe, aiming to appeal to both new and old fans of the franchise.
The game will be released as another PC/mobile hybrid similar toGenshin Impact. But instead of the Action-RPG combat found in Genshin, players will be putting their tactical skills to the test as they take on turn-based battles. Players can roam around and trigger battles by attacking first or being ambushed by enemies. Using collected characters to help buff the team as well as attack using elemental and normal-based attacks.
Aprevious trailerfor Honkai Star Rail featured intergalactic space journeying and intense battles between massive laser and sword weapons. As seen in the trailer, while onboard the giant spaceship, characters seem to enjoy the comforts such as wine drinking in their downtime. However, an ominous red warning sign appears suddenly during the trailer, hinting at danger that may lie ahead for these travelers.
