Honkai Star Rail Trailer Released Ahead of Launch
Honkai Star Rail just released its launch trailer. It is essentially a music video featuring most of the characters that will be initially available.
The team at Hoyoverse has been hard at work in hyping up the upcomingHonkai Star Rail. Their newest gatcha game, following Genshin Impact, is set to release on April 25, 10:00 PM EST (April 26 in Asia, where Hoyoverse is located) To celebrate, their music video slash trailer “Interstellar Journey” was revealed.
While this is essentially just a music video, it does showcase a ton of its playable characters. They aren’t doing anything particularly interesting, though it is an amazing showcase. Mihoyo has really upped the ante when it comes to its visuals, creating a game that looks even better this time around.
We get to see the beautiful animations that involve Kafka, Himeko, the Trailblazers (both male and female versions), Dan Heng, March 7th (such an odd name), Herta, and more.
Saying that Honkai Star Rail has been extremely popular these past few weeks would be quite an understatement. Back in February, over 2 million players signed up and pre-registered. Just 2 months later, in April, this number wasover 10 million. The number is up to 10.9 million as of writing. This way surpasses the numbers ofTower of Fantasy, a similar-looking game to Genshin Impact.
The game’s original pre-registration targets were quite conservative: 5 million fans would’ve unlocked the game’s penultimate reward, 15 Star Rail Passes (for the gatcha pulls). Instead, players will get 20 Star Rail Passes, some currencies, a special Welcome avatar, and Serval, an AoE 4-Star Character.
Other Honkai Star Rail “events” on launch will include “A World Beyond” which is the game’s 7-day login rewards; “Trailblazing Will” which grants players gifts at certain account level milestones, and the “Departure” warp. The last one is a special gatcha banner that will guarantee a 5-Star Character within the first 50 pulls.
Players can also pre-load the game on Windows (via a standalone launcher and Epic Games), Android, and iOS. A PlayStation release is planned later down the line.
Just like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail’s monetization will revolve primarily around pulling special characters from the gatcha system. Players will spend resources to purchase Star Rail Passes as well as Special Passes to pull. They can choose to do single pulls or 10 at a time. The latter of which will guarantee that you will get at least 1 4-Star Rarity character or Light Cone (basically a weapon).
Honkai Star Rail’s first banner (or featured set of characters) will make it so that you’re more likely to get Seele as your rarest drop. She is a scythe-wielding DPS unit that makes use of the Quantum element. Seele has incredible speed and damage, which lets her attack quite often with extra strength.
Killing an enemy with Seele will let her act again by giving her an extra turn. With this, she can choose to continue the onslaught with either a normal attack or with her Sheathed Blade skill, which will make her even faster. When her health lowers to a certain threshold, she can become partially invisible, making enemies less likely to target her. Seems like quite the perfect combination for a high-damage, but squishy, character.
Honkai Star Rail is Hoyoverse’s newest RPG experience. This time, it’s set in space. And we’re all on a train that can travel through the stars at light speed. Our character, the “Trailblazer”, explores the galaxy, finds new friends, and battles evil foes. Expect to see some familiar faces from previous games, like Honkai Impact the 3rd.
Unlike Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail’scombat is turn-based. The world(s) are also less open, as areas are just generally wide open but interconnected spaces. You also cannot climb on everything and anything in the game world. Star Rail is also quiteSci-Fiversus Genshin’s high fantasy.
