InXile Entertainment targeting a Q3 2018 launch for The Bard's Tale 4

Unlike the snarky comedic action-RPG The Bard’s Tale which was marketed as a spoof of fantasy RPGs, The Bard’s Tale 4 is aiming to be more faithful to the original Bard’s Tale games. So it’s a proper hardcore RPG entry. You’ll be heading into dungeons with a party of quirky heroes. Turn-based battles occur in a limited grid-based system where your party can move in to gain attack advantages or to stay out of the enemy’s reach. Check out this teaser video for The Bard’s Tale 4.

As it’s a Bard’s Tale game, expect plenty of drinking and drunken singing. Your party members will gain buffs from drinking alcohol. Which is just like in real-life, where alcohol always makes everything better (?).
