King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Champion Class Guide – How To Build A Champion

King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Champion Class Guide – How To Build A Champion– In this King: Arthur: Knight’s Tale Champion Class Guide, I’m going to show you how to build your Champion from the ground up in terms of the active and passive skills you should acquire, the Heroes you need to create a reliable party, and the gear you have to equip. If you are looking for a Champion who effortlessly slays enemies with their Two-Handed Weapons while taking enough damage to serve as a secondary tank, then this King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Champion Class Guide is for you!

UnlikeArcanists, theChampiondoes not have manySkillsto control the battlefield. Instead, their main focus is to deal raw damage to put down enemies as soon as possible. They excel in close-range combat, so much so that they can brutally kill multiple targets with a single swing of theirWeapon. This is due to the powerful groupSkillsthey have. But they can also executePower Attack, allowing them to deal more than 100% Weapon Damage to lethally harm individual bosses. In terms ofStatus Effects, you can makeHeroeslikeSir BalanorSir KayinflictBleedingto deal additional Damage over Time (DoT), especially against foes with highVitality.

As a Champion, your goal is to boost Weapon Damage, Armour Breaking, and Physical Debuff Resist. Doing so maximizes their melee damage while improving the chances of breaking most, if not all of the enemy’sArmour. It also reduces the efficacy of physical status effects such asVulnerabilityandWeakness. This is important to keep them on their feet and to fulfill their role as a secondary meat shield to aid theDefender.

When it comes to party composition, having at least 1 Defender is essential to protect everyone even if there’s a Champion since they are not as durable as the main tank in the game. You can then include another Champion and a ranged Hero such as an Arcanist orMarksmanto employ crowd control techniques or pick off enemies one by one, respectively. Because of how strong these damage dealers are, it will take you less time to complete one encounter after the next.

Every time Heroes level up, they gain 2 skill points. However, they can receive more by activating Shrines, consuming Tomes of Proficiency from exploration, and unlocking perks inCamelot.King Arthur: Knight’s Talefeatures active and passive skills. Active skills differ for Heroes belonging to identicalClassesbut this is not true for passive skills that are mostly the same. In this guide, we will discuss Sir Balan’s best abilities to prioritize upon reaching Level 15 while talking about some of Sir Kay andSir Lancelot’sessential skills. You can both recruit Sir Balan and Sir Kay as you progress through Act 1. For Sir Lancelot, you are required to accumulate 13Rightful Moralitypoints before gaining access to his respectiveMission, which is called The Protector. Completing it will allow you to invite him to theRound Table.

By the time you reach Level 15, you will have gained access to all skill tiers and have invested a total of 28 points from progression alone. At Level 1, Sir Balan automatically has access toStrikeand Power Attack. Note that the skills and enhancements below are listed in the order you should take them.

Strike– This is the classic normal attack that deals moderate damage. For Strike, you will only need 2 enhancements to boost Sir Balan’s Weapon Damage, namely, Reeling Blow to inflict Vulnerability, together with Strong Grip.

Power Attack– As the name implies, this deals a strong blow against the target due to its Armour Breaking capability. With Ready to Purge and Vulnerability, Power Attack’s AP cost is lower and you are able to inflict greater damage. You ought to also take Stunning Blow to incapacitate the enemy for 1 turn. This is effective, especially if you are facing strong minibosses who can’t help but deal lethal damage against your party.

Defensive Stance– One of Sir Balan’s unique and essential active skills is Defensive Stance. This allows him to take on the role of a semi-tank because it boosts his Armour even for just a single turn. You should obtain all enhancements for Defensive Stance starting with Steadiness and Resting Stance, followed by Perseverance and Active Defense. Steadiness significantly reduces the damage Sir Balan’s Armour takes by half while Resting Stance grants him temporaryHP. Meanwhile, Perseverance provides him with Physical Debuff Resistance whereas Active Defense reduces the skill’s cooldown. Defensive Stance is great to use when enemies are about to surround you because it will certainly protect you from taking too much damage.

Rage– Since you are going to build Sir Balan as a damage dealer who constantly slays enemies, you will want to invest in the passive skill known as Rage to further boost his Weapon Damage. But for this, you will only need Blood Rage to gain extra HP after a kill as well as Extended Rage to enhance Weapon Damage.

Earth Shaker– This is a must-have group skill as it deals immense Weapon Damage against enemies who are far away from you. It is also immune toBlockso there is no way to reduce its incoming damage. Because of how powerful Earth Shaker is, you will want to acquire all corresponding enhancements in this order – Earth Splitter, Ground Surge, Stumble, and Magnitude. Earth Splitter lets you target farther enemies while Ground Surge amplifies the damage you deal. Meanwhile, Stumble slows down movement and Magnitude knocks them back to waste AP during their turn.

Cleave– This is one of the most essential group skills in King Arthur: Knight’s Tale because it allows Sir Balan to tackle multiple enemies with a single swing of his Two-Handed Weapon. Cleave deals Weapon Damage against targets in a 3×3 tile AoE to deplete their Vitality, HP, and Armour. Remember that they must at least be positioned in a straight line to activate this skill. Out of the 4 enhancements, however, you only need Momentum to further improve the corresponding Weapon Damage you deal since you are going to want to allocate points to other skills.

Robust– This is another good passive to have as it improves Sir Balan’s defensiveStats. Robust boosts his Vitality and HP from theTrinketsand Armour he wears, allowing him to withstand more damage than usual.

Whirlwind– At Tier 3, you will want to invest in Whirlwind, which is the third group skill available to Sir Balan. When you have additional points, be sure to get Raging Wind to amplify its respective Weapon Damage.

Extra Area Damage, Melee Expertise & Executioner– Upon surpassing Level 15, you will be able to invest in these three essential passive skills. Extra Area Damage amplifies the Weapon Damage of all of your group skills such as Earth Shaker, Cleave, and Whirlwind whereas Melee Expertise grants you Unbreakable Armour for every enemy next to you. And finally, Executioner provides you with additional damage againstSlowandStunnedtargets, thereby synergizing very well with Earth Shaker and Power Attack, respectively.

For Sir Kay, it’s good to select skills and enhancements that inflict Bleeding such as Open Wounds for Strike and Bleeder for Cleave in order to considerably harm enemies besides the Lost, who are immune to this status effect. As such, you should also invest in the following:

Death Strike– This is Power Attack’s equivalent such that it deals more than 100% Weapon Damage but the Armour Breaking percentage is greater. The enhancements you ought to retrieve for Death Strike are Bloodletting to inflict Bleeding and Rending Blow to raise the total damage dealt by 185%.

Extra Bleeding– This passive rewards extra Weapon Damage against targets who are subjected to Bleeding.

Kick– This is a good skill to have to push enemies backward and deal a small amount of damage in the process. Doing so will force them to spend AP to move close to you which they would have otherwise used for powerful skills. The enhancements of Kick that you ought to take are Kneebreaker, Numbing Attack, and Snap Kick. This combination also knocks down targets, reduces their AP, and lowers the skill’s AP cost, respectively.

By the time you recruit Sir Lancelot, he will be Level 15 with 1 available skill point. He is a very powerful character since he excels as both a Champion andSagewhile inflicting Bleeding with Strike. As such, you can dismiss Sir Kay for him if you no longer have enough space for other Heroes. In this section, I will go through Sir Lancelot’s unique skills that make him a must-have knight in your party if you are following the RightfulMoralitypath. Note that you no longer need to change any of his abilities given how potent they are.

Assault– This is an excellent gap closer that also deals notable Weapon Damage. Assault’s essential enhancements are Lunge and Blitz, which lengthens the skill’s range and reduces its cooldown, respectively.

Lone Wolf– UnlikeSir Pelleas’sGuard Ability, Sir Lancelot excels in being a Lone Wolf, which amplifies his Weapon Damage when allies are not near him. What makes this passive better are all of its enhancements, namely, Unhindered, Unburdened, Unyielding, and Battleborn. This combination rewards him with perks as long as he continues to stay as a Lone Wolf throughout the encounter. These perks include additional Weapon Damage, AP, Unbreakable Armour, and HP.

Strength– This is a good substitute for Rage because it permanently improves Weapon Damage by 10% without needing to kill enemies.

Inspire– This is a Tier 2 skill that grants allies +2 AP for 1 turn, much like how a Sage would. For Inspire’s enhancements, Tranquility and Mobilization take top priority as they not only reduce the cooldown rate of your Heroes’ skills but also provide Sir Lancelot with +1 AP for movement. Since you have 1 extra skill point, you should invest in Unbind as it lets you remove theChill,Freeze, Slow, or Stun status effects from any of your allies. This is relevant, especially when you begin to face tougher enemies in midgame.

Ice Spikes– This is an alternative to Cleave as it harms enemies in front of you. With Impaler, you are able to deal greater Weapon Damage and with Ice Forge, Ice Spikes’ AP cost is going to be lower. If you are not having trouble with status effects, you can opt to invest 1 point in Frost Shards to also inflict Chill, which lowers the target’s AP by 33%, thereby preventing them from using stronger skills.

Armourer– This gives +1 AP to Sir Lancelot even if he is wearing Heavy Armour. However, if you prefer to improve his survivability instead, you can change Armourer for Robust.

Radiance– This blinds multiple targets to boost the chances of missing their attacks. Radiance is essential, especially when Sir Lancelot becomes surrounded by a lot of enemies. Since they are already afflicted withBlindness, he can safely move to another location without getting hit by Attacks of Opportunity.

In King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, you can bring up to a maximum of 4 Heroes per Mission. For party composition, you have the option to bring Sir Balan and Sir Kay or Sir Balan and Sir Lancelot together with a Defender and Arcanist. I find this setup extremely strong since 2 Champions can easily kill one enemy after the other, especially with Sir Balan’s Earth Shaker. The Arcanist is able to inflict status effects while casting spells that affect several enemies at once so you can certainly choose betweenSir EctororMerlin.

In terms of Morality, Sir Balan follows the RightfulOld-Faithpath, which means that if you are at least adhering to the Rightful alignment, then you will most likely gain hisLoyalty. Maximizing this will boost his overall damage by 20% while giving him +1 AP, and the same goes for Sir Lancelot. Sir Kay, on the other hand, isNeutralso the chances of upsetting him are slim.

If you do not follow the Rightful Alignment, then you won’t be able to recruit Sir Lancelot. You can instead go for 1 Champion with a Defender, Arcanist or Marksman likeLady Dindraine, and Sage. The latter class will buff the party to improve their defenses. The role of the Champion is two-fold, primarily as a damage dealer and then a secondary tank.

When it comes to the Champion’sEquipment, you can equip the Devastating Rune of Strength, which you will automatically get from Sir Lancelot. This improves Maximum Weapon Damage while enhancing the damage dealt by Power Attack. Alternatively, you can also wield the Sign of the Cleansing Fire from theEnchanted Tower, as this inflictsBurningfor 2 turns and is therefore effective against most enemy types.

In terms of Heavy Armour, you should wear Goibniu’s Hexed Sigil to boost Armour together with Physical and Mental Debuff Resist. If you don’t have enough Relic Dust to purchase it in the Enchanted Tower, you can opt for the Symbol of Belenus through exploration This provides you with extra Armour and HP, allowing you to also survive longer on the battlefield.

For Trinkets, you will want to equip Epona’s Rubied Pendant and the Fomorian Witchclaw, which are random rewards. The pendant grants +2 Movement AP, which is essential for Champions to move closer to enemies. On the other hand, the witchclaw automatically kills a target whose Vitality is 15% or lower, improves Armour Breaking, and increases the damage dealt by Cleave.

Furthermore, remember to bringStoneskinandHealing Potionsto restore Armour and HP, respectively. You should also strive to get the following Essences – Annihilation, Mutilation, Haemmorhage, and Life. You can obtain these from the Challenges tab of the Journal. Annihilation boosts your Champion’s Weapon Damage. Mutilation provides you with increased chances of dealing double damage. And finally, Haemmorhage and Life enhance Bleeding damage against most enemies and HP, respectively.

Progressing effectively as a Champion is easy to do because of the huge damage they deal. They are also not squishy, unlike Arcanists, making them extremely beginner-friendly. They can protect themselves quite well, particularly Sir Balan and Sir Lancelot. However, these knights still need the assistance of at least 1 Defender to protect the rest of the party since they are not super resilient. Unlike ranged Heroes, Champions don’t receive penalties in the melee range, however, they ought to be careful when it comes to taking backstab damage as it deals significant damage if inflicted multiple times.

Before fighting against the Lost, be sure to bring Sir Balan along since he specializes in dealing other damage types besides Bleeding, which this enemy type is immune to. You can change the party composition to include him,Sir Mordred, Sir Ector, andLady Guineverewho is a Sage. Sir Balan can move forward to distract enemies while dealing massive damage in the melee range while Sir Ector inflicts Hexes to slow them down and casts potent ranged group spells. Meanwhile, Lady Guinevere inspires her allies to gain extra AP and surprises enemies by stabbing them in the back, and Sir Mordred protects Sir Ector.

In Camelot, you should prioritize gaining access to theTraining Ground’sBasic and Advanced Physical Training Perks to permanently raise your Vitality and HP by 20% and 15%, respectively, for improved survivability. It’s also important to unlock Barracks here to gain an extra skill point for all of your Champions.
