King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Vanguard Class Guide – How To Build A Vanguard

King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Vanguard Class Guide – How To Build A Vanguard– In this King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Vanguard Class Guide, I’m going to show you how to build your Vanguard from the ground up in terms of the active and passive skills you should acquire, the Heroes you need to create a reliable party, and the gear you have to equip. If you are looking for a Vanguard who excels in stealthily dealing damage while deploying traps here and there, then this King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Vanguard Class Guide is for you!

Vanguardsare a different beast altogether because unlike the rest of theClasseswe have talked about, they are not initially as straightforward to pilot. They are assassins who specialize in variousSkillsincluding setting traps, inflictingPoison, staying in the shadows to deal Surprise Attacks, and backstabbing enemies to maximize burst damage. Vanguards likeLady BoudiceaandSir Tegyrare able to do these things well without taking massive damage because of how stealthily they move, making them highly effective damage dealers.

Similar toArcanists,Champions, andMarksmen, your ultimate goal as a Vanguard is to improve the Weapon DamageStatas much as you can. It’s also important to allocate a point or two to Perception so you can easily detect the enemy’s traps without relying onHeroessuch asLady Dindraineto do it for you. Since you will mostly be dealing melee damage, remember to boost your Physical Debuff Resist to prepare yourself against physicalStatus Effectssuch asKnockdown,Vulnerability, andWeakness.

In terms of party composition, you will definitely need aDefenderto protect you and your allies. You can then mix it up with another Vanguard, ranged Hero such as a Marksman or Arcanist, and Champion. They all compliment one another so you shouldn’t have a hard time dealing with enemies even when they come in droves.

Every time Heroes level up, they gain 2 skill points. However, they can receive more by activating Shrines, consuming Tomes of Proficiency from exploration, and unlocking perks inCamelot.King Arthur: Knight’s Talefeatures active and passiveSkills. Active skills differ for Heroes belonging to identical classes but this is not true for passive skills that are mostly the same. In this guide, we will discuss Lady Boudicea’s best abilities to prioritize upon reaching Level 15 while talking about Sir Tegyr’s essential skills. You can recruit Sir Tegyr and Lady Boudicea as you progress through Acts 2 and 3, respectively.

By the time you reach Level 15, you will have gained access to all skill tiers and have invested a total of 28 points from progression alone. At Level 1, Lady Boudicea automatically has access toStrikeandFlurrywith a couple of extra abilities that have been prepopulated. Note that these and their enhancements below are listed in the order you should take them.

Strike– This is the classic normal attack that lets you deal greater Weapon Damage with Sinister Blow while inflicting Poison in the process thanks to Poisoned Blade. You won’t need to unlock the other enhancements in place of additional active skills in the same tier.

Flurry– This is a great alternative toCleavesince Lady Boudicea will not gain access to the latter group skill even at later levels. Out of the 4 enhancements, Armour Breaker and Extended Flurry make Flurry much more effective. This combination considerably boosts the Vanguard’s Armour Breaking capability and allows them to target another enemy in a single turn.

Jump– This is a must-have skill because it allows Lady Boudicea to jump from one far tile to the next. What makes Jump highly effective is its short cooldown period, which immediately becomes useable after every turn due to Lope. Meanwhile, Vault is also good to have in order to lower the ability’s AP cost to 1.

Hide– This is another standard skill for all Vanguards because it lets them turn into stealthy killing assassins. Not only do they gain a 50% boost in Surprise Damage but they also don’t interfere with their allies’ line of sight, which means that Marksmen and Arcanists can smoothly execute their ranged attacks. Note, however, that the Surprise Damage is only applicable for a normal attack like Strike. Any other skill will invalidate the bonus granted to them.

Scout– Similar to Marksmen since Vanguards will stay hidden while jumping from one tile to the next, they will need a skill that grants extra Movement AP and Perspective. Because of this, you will need to invest in Scout both in Lady Boudicea’s Tier 1 and Tier 3 skill sets.

Throwing Dagger– This is a relevant skill to have because it’s a potent ranged attack that affects multiple targets in one go. For Throwing Dagger, you will want to unlock all enhancements in the following order – Twin Daggers, Poisoned Dagger, Lethality, and Balanced Throw. Twin Daggers lets you target a second enemy while Poisoned Dagger inflicts Poison for Damage over Time (DoT). Meanwhile, Lethality boosts the skill’s Weapon Damage and Balanced Throw further raises the range of your throw.

Unyielding& Dodge– Unyielding is a passive that grantsHPevery time you hit a target. What makes it more effective is Extra HP and Endurance to boost HP andVitality, respectively. Dodge, on the other hand, improves your chances of automatically evading incoming attacks.

Jumping Attack– This is one of Lady Boudicea’s best skills as it deals more than 100% Weapon Damage and then afterward, you jump back to your starting position, effectively avoiding any reactions from the enemy. However, the drawback to Jumping Attack even when you unlock Long Rush is its rather shorter range. In fact, Throwing Dagger’s reach is much farther. To circumvent this issue, you should activate Jump followed by Jumping Attack. The other enhancements to unlock are Hit and Run and Nimble when you have additional skill points at higher levels. This combination lets you deal additional Weapon Damage upon surprising the target and reduces the ability’s cooldown by a turn.

Backstab– Upon surpassing Level 15, you will be able to invest in this passive. Backstab boosts the Weapon Damage you deal when attacking enemies from behind. Because your playstyle heavily makes use of this passive, you will want to obtain all of its corresponding enhancements starting with Ambush and Mutilate followed by Finisher and then Focused Strike. Ambush further amplifies your Weapon Damage if your Surprise Attacks are Backstabs, which means staying hidden and then lunging behind your enemies to backstab them. Mutilate inflicts Vulnerability to improve the damage dealt by all allies. Finisher rewards you with additional Weapon Damage as a result of backstabbing enemies. And finally, Focused Strike pierces theirArmourwhen attacking them from behind.

Quick Footed– This is another advanced skill to unlock. Quick Footed makes Lady Boudicea completely immune to Attacks of Opportunity so she can essentially move away from foes after utilizing Jump and Jump Attack without taking damage.

By the time you recruit Sir Tegyr, he will be Level 8. He is a suitable alternative to Lady Boudicea but rather than having the option to use the group skill Flurry, he utilizes the power of traps. In this section, I will go through Sir Tegyr’s unique skills that make him a decent Vanguard in your party. Note that you no longer need to change any of his initial abilities given how potent they are.

Bear Trap– This is a hidden trap that deals decent Weapon Damage whileSlowingdown affected enemies. You can have at most 5 active traps. To make Bear Trap more potent, you are going to want to get Bleeding Clash and Shackles to inflict Bleeding and reduce their AP by 2, respectively. Doing so not only deals DoT but also reduces the target’s chances of activating powerful skills.

Counter Attack– This is a good reaction passive that lets Sir Tegyr deal Strike automatically when he receives a Frontal Attack.

Gas Trap– Another type of hidden attack that affects enemies who are next to where the trap has been placed. Gas Trap is an amazing skill because it deals Weapon Damage against those who enter the 3×3 tile AoE while receiving DoT. To enhance this further, you need Poison Gas, Enfeeble, Thick Cloud, and Corrosive Gas. Poison Gas inflicts Poison while Enfeeble deals theWeakenedstatus effect to reduce the enemy’s damage by -33%. Thick Cloud also causes slow and Corrosive Gas reduces their Armour by a certain number, which becomes greater the higher Sir Tegyr’s level is.

Master of Traps–  This is a must-have passive that increases the range of the traps you set. The enhancements to take for Master of Traps include Serrated Traps, Barbed Traps, and Better Tools. This combination amplifies trap Weapon Damage, raises the duration of every respective DoT, and adds the number of active traps possible.

In King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, you can bring up to a maximum of 4 Heroes perMission. For party composition, you can bring both Lady Boudicea and Sir Tegyr if you want since they each specialize in different methods of slaying enemies. This should then be matched with a Defender followed by an Arcanist or Marksman who will deal pure ranged damage. However, I did find the Vanguard, Defender, Champion, and Marksman better suited rather than having 2 Vanguards in the team in order to utilize each of their strengths.

This is a decent party composition since you have a balanced set of Heroes to inflict melee and ranged damage, with Lady Boudicea dealing both. She is particularly fun to pilot due to how sneaky and lethal she is, often catching enemies unaware. Her Throwing Dagger and Strike skills are both potent since they inflict Poison. Meanwhile, the Defender and Champion such asSir MordredandSir Lancelotwill continue to charge towards enemies, and the Marksman like Lady Dindraine will pick off archers from the side. Alternatively, you can also swap the Marksman for the Arcanist likeMerlinsince the latter has more group skills under their sleeve.

In terms ofMorality, Lady Boudicea isNeutralso it’s fairly easy to keep her in the party regardless of the decisions you make. For Sir Tegyr, the situation is different since he follows aRightfulChristianpath. If you also adhere to the same beliefs, then you can quickly boost hisLoyaltyto a maximum of 20. Doing so raises his overall damage by +20% while granting him +1 AP, which he needs for either movement or skill activation.

When it comes to the Vanguard’sEquipment, you should equip the Sickening Rune of Infection to not only amplify Poison Damage per se but also boost the damage the party deals against Poisoned enemies. You can randomly get this from Missions. AnotherWeaponto acquire if you don’t have it yet is the Rune of Undealt Death, which is obtainable from theEnchanted Tower. It improves the chances of dealing double damage while enhancing Weapon Damage even more.

In terms of Medium Armour, Lady Boudicea can continue wearing the Vigorous Sigil of Heroism because it grants her Unbreakable Armour when she is beside two or more enemies and provides her with significant Vitality. For Sir Tegyr, you can borrowSir Bors’Mark of Lir to reduce the Armour damage he takes as well as to receive +2 Movement AP.

ForTrinkets, it’s best to equip Steel-Plated Amulet of Sturdiness and Ambusher’s Provision of Sickness, which are both acquired from exploration. The amulet lowers the attacks made on your Armour and reduces ranged damage. Meanwhile, the provision increases Poison duration while improving Lady Boudicea’s Jumping Attack range by 1.

Furthermore, remember to bringStoneskinandHealing Potionsto restore Armour and HP, respectively. You should also strive to get the following Essences – Blight, Annihilation, Armour, and Perception. You can obtain these from the Challenges tab of the Journal. Blight effectively amplifies your Poison Damage. Annihilation grants additional Weapon Damage. And finally, Armour and Perception are useful to enhance both features. Applying the Essence of Perception allows you to allocate +4 points to other skills.

For the King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Vanguard and similar to the Marksman, positioning is a huge factor in dealing the most amount of damage possible. This is due to the Surprise Attacks and Backstab Damage you ought to execute for thisBuild. But when you get used to hiding, jumping near enemies, and backstabbing them, the Vanguard becomes one of the best classes in the game because of how efficient they are in putting targets down. They also have the capability to evade incoming attacks more so than the other Heroes.

Should you gain extra skill points as a result of using the Essence of Perception or upon progressing further into King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, the Encouragement Skill in Tier 2 is worth considering if you are having a difficult time with AP management. This grants nearby allies extra AP for ability activation and movement as well as better Weapon Damage.

In Camelot, remember to invest in theMerchant’sArmoursmith and Master Blacksmith first to gain +2 Armour for the Vanguards. It’s also ideal to unlock Archery Range in theTraining Groundto acquire +1 Skill Point on top of the Basic and Advanced Training Perks. The latter notably raises your Vitality and HP.
