Lies of P Showcases the World and Its Cast of Characters

Lies of P explores some new locations as it shows off its Bloodborne-inspired combat. They also introduce the 6 side characters and their voice actors.

To say that Lies of P has extravagantly unnerving locations would be an understatement. It wears its Bloodborne, Victorian-Era, and Steampunk influences on its sleeve, and it does it quite proudly. Both of the extended gameplay footage have Pinnochio walk through streets and alleys, sewers, and buildings, all in his quest to finally become human.

We get to see first-hand how the automaton calamity has devastated Krat, especially in Rosa Isabelle Street. The entire lane is engulfed with flame, burning away at what little remains of humanity. It is also littered with unnerving automatons of all shapes and sizes. Kudos to the especially creepy clown enemy that has a menacingly evil grin plastered on its face. Whoever approved the use of these freakishly horrid robots to walk our streets in the first place?

The Lorenzini Arcade area of Lies of P also contains just enough terror, but this time in a more Lovecraftian flavor. Instead of unsettling robots, we get tentacled abominations that ooze grime and death. Enemies here are much more eldritch in nature, and as such are gross mimicries of life itself. We see everything from smaller-scaled diseased humans that are just puking their guts out wherever they please. Elsewhere we have massively bloated bodies that have tentacles in place of their heads, just ready and waiting to swipe us to pieces.

If Lies of P does something right, it is definitely the look and atmosphere of the game. It does an outstanding job of creating an unnerving sense of dread that sticks with you for quite some time.

Lies of P also introduced 6 of its supporting cast ofcharactersthat will join Pinnochio on his journey. Are they friends or foes, or anything in between? Only the lies can tell! First is a character named Antonia, voiced by Annette Badland. Antonia is the old and wizened owner of the Kratt Hotel, our game’s safe zone. She is most likely a direct reference to the original tale’s Master Antonio, a carpenter who initially found the log that would eventually become our character. Badland is a seasoned actress, though she does not have too many video game voiceovers under her belt (best known for “Additional Voices” inDiablo IV).

Next is our dad, Gepetto as voiced by Anthony Howell. He has lent his voice to a ton of video games includingElden Ring, Final Fantasy XVI, Diablo IV,Stray Blade,The DioField Chronicle, and evenSteelrising. We also get to see the blue fairy of Lies of P, Sophia. She is a mystical voice that leads us in the right direction. Her voice actress is Allegra Marland, who also portrayedMillicentin Elden Ring.

Last are Venigi (voiced by Shai Matheson), Simon Manus (Matt Rippy), and Eugenie (Sofia Jin). The first two are still shrouded in mystery right now as there are not a lot of details available. Eugenie, on the other hand, seems to be the engineer who will be in charge of maintaining and upgrading ourLegion Arm. Sofia Jin, her voice actress, is a newcomer to the video game voice acting scene but has lent her bubbly personality to a wide variety of other voiceover projects.

The game’s Standard Edition can be pre-ordered now for $59.99 and will include “Mischievous Puppet’s”cosmetic itemsthat bring out our inner nostalgia forPinocchio. Alternatively, the Deluxe Edition costs $10 more but includes even more cosmetics, as well as a 72-hour jump-start to your journey throughout Krat.
