Lies of P Shows Its Grisly Weapons in a New Spotlight Trailer
Lies of P showcases its endless weapon customization features as Pinocchio slaughters marionettes and other horrors.
A soulslike game is only as good as its available weapons. It’s a good thing then that Lies of P has weapons in droves. This is even better as the game features an in-depth weapon modification system that lets you pick apart your gear and mash them together to create some truly unique and terrifying machinations.
What kind of trouble can we get ourselves into? Let’s find out!
Lies of P heavily features an in-depth weapon customization system that will allow us dozens of ways of playing.Weaponsin the game are made up of two components: theblade(even if the weapon is a hammer) and thehandle. The bits of gear that can be taken apart are clearly denoted with a “Can Disassemble” tag within the game’s interface.
Each piece has its own respective stats andFable Arts. Handles dictate the stat scaling, attack type, and allowed moveset. Blades, on the other hand, determine the damage, blade type, and the weapon’s overall durability.
The most recent Lies of P footage showed off 7 different combinations of Handles and Blades.
First up we have the blade from theitem“Dancer’s Curved Sword” and the handle of the polearm “Booster Glaive”. This results in a unique situation where we have an extremely flashy finesse weapon, the glaive, mixed in with high slashing damage instead of stabbing. Our booster also gives Pinocchio the ability to charge up his attack, concentrating until the weapon has enough thrust stored up. He can then unleash the pent-up energy in a massive hit.
Pinocchio goes tiny next, with the Salamander Dagger Blade mixed in with a Master Chef’s Knife Handle. The combination gives us an extremely quick-hitting weapon, capable of felling even the largest of beasts in Lies of P. Finishers with this weapon are surprisingly explosive and quite painful-looking, as they create shockwaves that emanate from your unfortunate target.
Our next pairing is quite odd, as we slap together the Wintry Rapier’s Blade and the Blind Man’s Double-Sided Spear Handle. We end up with a short spear that has a menacing sawblade jutting out on the side, protecting our fragile hands.
There are more weapons showcased in the Lies of P footage. However, one somewhat grisly-looking weapon is the combination of the Live Puppet’s Axe Blade and the Acidic Great Curved Sword Handle. Think of the Live Puppet Axe Blade as a bunch of dismembered automaton arms that are bound together in barbed wire. All of their hands are perpetually gripping a massive axe blade. It’s even more horrific in action.
We also get to see the slaughter with what look to be unique items. Presumably, these cannot be disassembled for extra parts, but they already look like great performers in their own right.
First, we look at “Proof of Humanity” – perhaps Pinnochio’s way of trying to prove he’s human is to silence those who question him. This really long longsword is simple in design, only adorned with a few gems. However, what makes this weapon unique is that you can pull it apart mid-combat to grant you access to two blades instead of one. Players can immediately swap from a one-handedcombatstyle into dual-wielding.
The “Holy Sword of the Ark” is a massive greatsword. As expected, it is extremely slow but extremely painful. Pinocchio can even charge up the blade mid-combat, granting his combos even more damage dealt.
Last is the Uroboros’ Eye, which is a massive and elegant circular saw blade attached to a handle. Its quick strikes slice and dice with gusto, chopping up groups of enemies into a fine pulp.
While the Lies of P video definitely focused on the weapons of war, there’s no denying that Pinnochio also has access to a lot of good-looking outfits. The game features a plethora ofcostumesthat will let you change up your looks as you slay in style. Outfits in the game range from extremely simple white shirts paired with some nice black slacks, go into modest and sophisticated schoolboy attire, or even some hunting garbs.
There are also tons of Victorian-inspired suits and outfits tailored to your every need. Some pieces are more, unique, as they definitely stand out. One such example is an ominous horse leather mask, giving off more chills than a really cold day.
Lies of Phas gone gold, meaning it is right on track for its September 19th release this year.
The game’s Standard Edition can be pre-ordered now for $59.99. Alternatively, the Deluxe Edition costs $10 more but includes even more cosmetics and a 72-hour jump-start to your journey throughout Krat. For more on the game, be sure to check out ourHands-On Impressionson Lies of P.
