Lost Ark’s update this August is one of the biggest yet for the Western version of the game. We get many updates to existing systems and the Aeromancer class.
On August 16th, after the weekly maintenance, fans of the Korean MMORPGLost Arkwill get a taste of something quite… electrifying. This month’s major content update introduces the Aeromancer, the Specialist’s second advancedclassright after the Artist. In the same content drop, Lost Ark will get a poisonous new Legion Raid as they face off against Akkan, the Plague Legion Commander.
First up for August is the introduction of the Aeromancer, a DPS class that relies on manipulating the weather. While she may not have the power of ice, she can command wind, rain, and the sun with her magical umbrella. Her class identity is known as the Sun Shower, a powerful spell that offers offensive and defensive properties. The Aeromancer’s basic skills are greatly enhanced, she and her party receive less damage, and nearby foes are dealt damage over time when the Sunshower is activated.
Just like any other class, the Lost Ark Aeromancer has two unique classengravingsthat greatly change her playstyle. She can lean into enhancing her movement and attack speeds further, at the cost of a shorter Sun Shower duration. Alternatively, she can enhance her Sun Shower, extending its duration and greatly buffing her weather-based skills.
Speaking of skills, the aeromancer can unleash the elements with things like Tornado, Whirlpool, Thick Fog, or Wiping Wind to deal magical damage. On the other hand, she can make use of her umbrella to hit things really hard (oftentimes in combination with nature’s fury).
Sonavel is the name of the newest Guardian Raid. Unfortunately, while he may be a reskin of an already existing Guardian, it seems like he’s no pushover. The elemental warlord requires players to be at item level 1580 but has many new rewards such as a Legendary Galewind Rune.
To help players gear up for these monumental tasks, Smilegate and Amazon Games are implementing some QoL as well as catch-up events. For example, Chaos Dungeons will have monsters spawn much faster, move quicker, and seek out players much more efficiently. Players will also be immune to control-impairing effects and debuffs, making clearing these necessary dungeons much faster. There will also be power passes and Super Mokoko Express events that will catapult players to item level 1540, and give them some starter engravings.
August already has tons of other changes – the patch notes alone for this month are approximately 22,000 words. Definitely a record for Lost Ark! However, Amazon and Smilegate also revealed a few days ago their plans for the rest of the year. The extendedroadmapis here!
Coming up in October will be the new region, Pleccia, which is a continent of “romance, art, and freedom”. This month will also add a new Trial Guardian raid, Caliligos. November is much more impactful, as Lost Ark will be adding theSouleateradvanced class. ThisAssassin-based character makes use of a deadly scythe to eviscerate her foes. It’s a shame that the Reaper didn’t get this weapon.
To cap off the year, December will add the continent of Voldis, an Ivory Tower Abyssal Dungeon, and the new Elixir system that can give players another layer of customization for their characters’ playstyles.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for Lost Ark. It’s good to see that Amazon and Smilegate are still hard at work at making the game as great as possible.
