Lost Ark May 2023 Update Adds the Slayer Class

May. 10, 2023

Lost Arkis on the road to finding the final Ark. However, this May introduces the new Slayer Class in the meantime.

Welcome back to Arkesia, heroes! The Western Version of Lost Ark is stillcharging straight aheadwith the monthly meaty content updates. This May, we get to finally fulfill our wishes to create female burly warrior characters, a new Ebony Cube Activity, new cosmetics, and even more catch-up systems!

Let’s see what this month has in store for fans of the popular MMO ARPG, Lost Ark!

Arguably the most exciting bit of content this May is the addition of the fifthWarrioradvanced class, the Slayer. She is the first female Warriorclassand has many influences from herBerserkerBrother. While they both have gigantic greatswords at the ready and rage a lot, they are also quite fundamentally different (except in the fact that they can deal terrible, terrible damage!).

Her unique class identity abilities are called Burst Mode and Bloodlust. Burst Mode can be triggered once the Lost Ark Slayer’s fury meter has filled up and is essentially a buff that makes her even deadlier. Additionally, being in Burst Mode allows the Slayer to use Bloodlust, which is a powerful AoE skill that slices and dices with impunity.

As with other classes, the Slayer has access to two classengravingsthat fundamentally change the way she is played. The Punisher Engraving greatly increases damage dealt while in Burst Mode and increases Bloodlust Crit Rate. However, the downside is that the actual mode is shortened and it is more difficult to transform. Predator makes it so that you enter Burst Mode faster, but you cannot use the powerful Bloodlust skill.

The Slayer will have tons of skills available to her, mostly physical in nature. However, they are all quite flashy, punchy, and truly painful-looking. Things like Flash Blade, Cross Blade, and Fury Blade are all your basic slashes and dashes. However, abilities like Furious Claw, Ground Smash, and Flying Strike are more interesting to watch and contain much more particle effects.

Slayers in Lost Ark will also have twoawakening skills: Execute and Ragna Break. The former causes the Slayer to leap into the air and slash into the ground, creating explosions in her wake. Ragna Break, on the other hand, turns the Slayer’s power into a demonic form, gathering energy before releasing.

To help players get their Slayers ready for the Akkan Legion Raidlater this year, another Punika Powerpass is being added to the game. This will essentially skip the majority of the story, and grant characters item level 1340. However, this time around, the Pass is implementing some safeguards to prevent abuse from bots.

Additionally, a Hyper Express event will let players assign a character to participate. Those characters will have set objectives that will grant them a huge amount of honing materials, letting them speed on by to item level 1460 – perfect for endgame raiding.

The Event Guardians are being reintroduced from last year. Essentially, this is a more “fun” version ofGuardian Raids, as players need to hunt down three bosses in an area. Performing special moves against the bosses will cause them to drop powerful buffs that will catapult the players’ damage through the roof.

Lost Ark’s Knowledge Transfer system is also getting a revamp. Previously, this story-skip feature required players to complete the story multiple times if they wanted to keep using Knowledge Transfer. This limitation has been removed entirely, and there will be no more cap on the number of characters who can partake in the system. Instead of having to wait 8 hours, Knowledge Transfers will now only take 10 seconds – the perfect time to check out theLost Ark Wiki.

Some people may argue that a multiplayer game’s true endgame is how deep the fashion and cosmetics systems can be. The good news is that the May update will bring along some new skins. This month is particularly interesting because the new Artethine Nightrider skins are the first exclusive outfits to come out in the West before the Korean versions.

As usual, each class will receive different outfits as well as multiple weapon options to find the perfect fit. Slayers in particular will get the “Balanced Fury” outfits, which are straight from the introductory trailer.

But when talking about the Endgame Raids, we also have a ton of updates. Players will no longer be limited to the number of times they can enter a givenraidin a week. They can choose not to earn gold when entering a Legion Raid. This is so that you can choose to join friends and help them out in a dungeon even if you’ve already completed it earlier in the week.Argos, Valtan,Vykas, andKakul-Saydonall have had to balance adjustments as well to fine-tune the experience.

There are tons more changes, so be sure to check out the official post. In other news, check outHollow Knight: Silksong Delayed to “TBD”andAge of Wonders 4 Tops Steam Sales Charts.
