Thief

is the resident goodie-sneak-shoes of Fextralife, mostly handling design works. Sometimes I say things and people laugh – I’m too German to understand why.

I agree. Both brotherhood and sentinels have little to gain on invading… reds need to waste enough time for a blue to come, and blues don’t receive anything by invading, only by being summoned…

But the bells are looking more fun now. Not sure about the rats though.

– Made it so that invading players cannot use items which invite more enemies.

Does this mean the alluring skull? I can’t think of anything else…

– To prevent invasion after defeating area bosses, made the Human Effigy effect function in this situation automatically.

I didn’t understand this part… does this mean that after defeating a boss I’ll be unable to be invaded or summon for 1 hour or permanently on that area?Do you guys think this is a good change? I know it will be easier to visit the merchants and blacksmiths, but if you are willing of being invaded you might need to use ascetics or keep optional bosses (smelter demon) alive. On Dark Souls I think it was a good choice, as you couldn’t warp between bonfires at the beggining, and even after getting the lord vessel not all bonfires could be warped to, so you would be running a lot on areas already cleared. But I’m not sure if it was needed in Dark Souls 2…

There’s still no reason to invade though. You get no covenant devotion for doing it. Still a pointless mechanic.

I think this case of havelmages in heide tower might happen depending on where the SM keeping ring is. If it’s somewhere behind a door locked by the king’s ring, then I think SM will still protect new players from fighting too overpower invaders in the begining, at least a bit.

About the extra rewards, I’m not sure why it didn’t happen earlier. It’s really a great improvement. The bell towers will be alive as never were before.

Just noticed the 2 screen shots of the ‘creature’ Scholar of the First Sin is in 2 different locations. One looks to be near the entrance to Sunken Crown DLC and the other maybe the Inner Sanctum before Elana (I think). So does this mean the Scholar follows you around to major places and gives out more lore?

On a side note – The Imitation spell – is that Chameleon?

Glad to see they’ve improved the Rusted coin effect – perhaps now I can get the thrice dammed Aurous and Ruin set lolNot looking forward to the ability of being invaded by higher level players in ng playthrough at all. Does it mean if you reach say Heide’s tower for the 1st time you could get invaded by some Havel Mage monster???

Got to admit I am liking the ‘exrta’ rewards you can get from Vanquishing invaders etc when in a covenantIn all seems good news and looking forward to it when it finally arrives

Personally, I’m very glad if slightly surprised, so many pressing issues I know many of you had were adressed.

But please,clicky-click for the original blog postby Namco Bandai, or if you don’t feel like putting on a sweater and leaving home, here it is:

Sighs of relief, raised fists? Let us know! (Every rant costs one hug or cookie, though. You choose.)

This is a lot of changes. I’m so curious about this new NPC and I’m excited for the new Lore aspects! Looking forward to the 5th

Danggit, I was just logging on to post this linkhttp://bit.ly/1DHrUWXbut you beat me to it, Thief! I know the agape ring will spark controversy and more complaints among the “it should always be like Dark Souls 1 forever” crowd, but I’m more intrigued by them beefing up jolly co-op potential. I personally have little problem there, but there have been many posts from people not being able to hook up, so to speak. I don’t think I like longer sessions as the full WSS session is long enough, although Shade time should double. I didn’t understand the part about not returning to own world if time runs out. Are we just going to watch? Or are they saying the timer won’t matter once you start a boss battle?

We don’t have too long to wait to see the changes. Excited!

I didn’t understand about invaders can no longer use items that invite more enemies. What items are that? Do they mean ring the bell in Undead Crypt? Because that’s 100% of most invaders’ repertoire there. Without that it will be really quick work slaughtering them, heh, heh.
