Necrocosmos Is An Open World Metroidvania Meets Space Shooter Now On Kickstarter
The game is an action game with Metroidvania mechanics, but set in an open world galaxy and features 8-bit design. In it, Earth is no longer a home and humanity has survived through rival federations spread throughout the Milky Way, under a fragile peace. As a bounty hunter, the player will take on a routine mission to find missing scientists and will wind up involved in a galactic nightmare.
The game uniquely alternates between sidescrolling planet exploration on foot and top down space shooter from within your ship. The planet’s are all designed with intent, there is no procedural generation. Each planet has its own plot and lore and can be explored in full as you unravel the clues and mysteries. When complete you will take to the stars and chart a course to another planet via the game’s star map.
You will navigate through worlds using a jetpack and your DNA gun that allows you to fuse the DNA of foes to create new and powerful shots. Each planet has several bosses who can only be defeated with a specific DNA combination shot, so you’ll be tasked with solving that riddle as you head into battle. Adding some extra depth is an armor crafting system that lets you match the right type of defense to the planet you’re on.
You can head on over to theirKickstarterpage to learn more, and you have until the end of August to back for some rewards. Thoughts on the game? Sound off down below!

Editor at Fextralife. I look for the substantial in gaming and I try to connect video games to the emotions and stories they elicit. I love all things culture and history and have an odd fondness for the planet Jupiter. I think my dogs are pretty awesome too.
Sounds cool. I’ll keep an eye out for it, though I’ll wait till after it’s done to put money in.
