Abit of Friday fun for us off the beaten path, as nostalgic gamers have effectively bought every NES Classic released by Nintendo today. The system is a 60 USD standalone system that lets you play 30 NES games on your TV.
For those who never played the original system or didn’t hold on to their original (guess who still has his? mwahaha) the standalone is a nostalgic and cheap way to get that finger numbing experience back in your life, in a more compact size from it’s original along with a controller. What’s on the system is what’s on it, so the 30 games it comes with are it, but they are among some of the biggest classics for the iconic console. Here’s the library:
Because of all of this value and nostalgia, this is going to be hot ticket item for the rest of the holiday season, and retailers are already sold out or at extremely limited quantities. The secondary market is predictably inflated with the system already in the hundreds of dollars.
Thoughts on the nostalgic boom of the NES Classic’s release? This has all brought back memories of crowding around the TV with my family as we all tried to beat Super Mario Bros. before we knew about the warp pipes. And it taught me early on to not be surprised when the princess is in another castle. If you’re desparately trying to get your hands on one, try and try again!

My wife tried to order one from Best Buy around 8am EST and they were totally sold out.
I have an original hooked up to my TV right now. Damn thing still works great and Donkey Kong never gets old (well sometimes)
