New Chalice Dungeon info and European Bundle
Sony’s European PlayStation Blog announced today (right here) the release of a PS4 Bloodborne Bundle. SCEE Blog Manager Fred Dutton announced the release in the latest blog piece about the upcoming PS4 exclusive. It should be noted that the bundle does NOT include the special edition console from the Japanese release and only comes in the standard black color. Pre-orders seem to be available as of…now.
The article also reveals new information about the teased Chalice Dungeons, indicating that players can acquire items to perform rituals to unlock the Chalice dungeon. In addition to the previously hinted at procedurally generated nature of the dungeons, Dutton reports that dungeons will differ based “on the combination of items you use in your ritual.” No two will be identical is the current promise. Read up on all that and more with the above link.
With the announcements also came a pretty slick new video on the Chalice Dungeons you might want to see…

A fair number of games seem to do that these days. Give you a base of operations you become familiar with before taking it away suddenly.
As for the Chalice Dungeons…. boy I cannot wait. I certainly love the co-operative element they possess but I never saw anything about invasions or pvp in Chalice Dungeons. I like the idea of invading a procedurally generated world you and your opponent know nothing about and having the creatures in it be as dangerous to you as to the host.
It’s a little off topic, but I just realized that what looks like the Dream Refuge is burning at the end of that trailer. I wonder if that forces us to move on to a new location after a while…?
The chalice dungeons are procedurally generated, based on what items you offer in the ritual you used to enter them. A very ‘roguelike’ element, but I’m not sure how roguelike it can be called if you’re going in fully prepared and don’t have to scour the place for weapons/items just to proceed.
It does sound interesting though, that’s for sure. Hopefully the bosses show as much variety as the levels themselves, or the levels might end up not mattering at all. And hopefully there’s some loot worth finding, because I’m not sure if I’d want to go through the effort just for the sake of seeing a slightly different variation on a thing I’ve seen ten times before. By all accounts, the enemies there seem to have a unique strain of the disease, and iirc what strain you have has some effect on your multiplayer/pvp interactions. Might be worth it.
Very interested to see how the dungeons will play out
