New Horizon Zero Dawn Video Explores the Origins of Main Character Aloy
Sony and Guerrilla Games have released a new video and dev diary forHorizon Zero Dawnthat explores the origins of the game’s main character,Aloy.
At the start of the game, Aloy is an orphan and an outcast, shunned by thetribeshe lives in. Only a few people will want to interact with or sell items to her.
There will be a fewquestswith Aloy as a child, which will be mostly used as tutorial quests. When she reaches adulthood, the game’s bigger mechanics will open up such as herskillsand the larger machineenemies. Players will be discovering the world with Aloy, exploring the ruins and mysteries of the past civilization. Aloy and the tribes are being designed with deep background stories that are impacted by the environment and vice versa.
In theaccompanying poston the Playstation Blog, studio co-founder and Managing Director Hermen Hulst went on to expalin that the choice to design Aloy’s appearance and personality all serve the story and gameplay. Designing her as agile, curious, fierce and down to her earth is what compels the action and story forward.
