New Kingdom Come: Deliverance Video Pits Weapons Against Armor…And Pigs
Warhorse Studios has released a new video forKingdom Come: Deliverance, showing off how the game’sweaponsandarmorwill interact in realistic ways.
Creative Director Daniel Vavra took the helm to debunk one of the big misconceptions in medieval combat that held that armor was easily penetrated. To debunk it they performed a real life test of weapons and armor as a basis for their game design and to highlight the decisions that have gone into the game’s development. A porcine combatant was also prepped for a later barbecue.
Depending on the weapon used and the armor of the opponent you will have different results. A sword for example can be a one hit kill for an unprotected person. In full plate armor however, a person can take heavy blows. You can take on an opponent in armor, but there are special techniques you will have to employ to overcome this inherent disadvantage.
Using weapons like a hammer or other blunt instrument may be a better course of action for subduing an opponent who is protected, and polearms make a good option for puncturing through chainmail. However, plate armor is going to be a stout challenge for any weapon and effectively made medieval combatants walking tanks.
To reflect these real results, each weapon in the game features 3 types of damage, and characters will feature up to 4 layers of armor, with more than 30 damage zones on every character in the game. Every weapon has a value in all 3 of the damage types as well as a weight which defines how fast it can be wielded. Armor and weapons also feature stats which define how easily they are damaged. All of these attributes combine to make combat a complex and thoughtful activity that is rooted in how these pieces of equipment would behave in real life.

Editor at Fextralife. I look for the substantial in gaming and I try to connect video games to the emotions and stories they elicit. I love all things culture and history and have an odd fondness for the planet Jupiter. I think my dogs are pretty awesome too.
Hey, . I have a question regarding this.
The wiki here says it’s coming out for PC, XB1, and PS4. It also says “Players who fund the project by purchasing the “BARON TIER DIGITAL (SPECIAL EDITION)” ($49.99) via the game’s website will have early access to the technical alpha and the beta of the game.” Is the beta available for PS4?
Also, that link to their website doesn’t work.
Such thought put into the combat.
Love their videos.
Can’t wait to see this game go live, definitely gonna pick this one up. If I had a pc able to run it, I’d be tempted by the beta.
Oh jeez, I gotta stop carrying these snickers bars around in my pockets…
Edit: Drat, I won’t have enough money this month for the alpha/beta. That’s unfortunate.
