New World Aeternum – How To Get a Mount

Ever see players prancing around on their mounts and wonder where they got that? Well, In this New World: Aeternum guide, I’m going to show you how to get a mount. Aeternum is pretty huge and exploring on foot will take up so much time. Good thing there are unlockable mounts that you can get by questing and fulfilling certain requirements.Note that mounts don’t really differ in speed, it all depends on your Riding skill. You will also still need to have theRise of The Angry Earthexpansion to get the mounts.

This is the first mount you can unlock. Once you hit level 20, you’ll see a horseshoe icon pop up on your map. That’s your cue to start the “Change of the Wild” questline and unlock the horse mount. Head over to Everfall, talk to Jochi Khan, and begin the “My Kingdom for a Horse” quest. Finish it up, and you’ll get the horse mount.

If you want to get the Dire Wolf mount, you’ll need to reach level 45. First, unlock the horse mount, then complete the horse races that pop up on the map. After that, head to Weaver’s Fen and talk to Francois De La Arma to start the “Smuggler’s Ring Circuit” quest. Complete the questline and you’ll unlock the Dire Wolf mount.

To unlock the Lion mount, you first need to reach level 65 and unlock both the horse and dire wolf mounts. Next, complete the first four races given by Valencia, followed by five additional challenging races assigned by Satiah Ramotep. Once you’ve finished these races, speak with Satiah to begin the Codex Aeternum Circuit questline. Complete this questline to unlock the coveted Lion mount.

Leveling up your mounts is a great way to boost their speed and stamina, letting them run faster and longer. You’ll need to level up the previous mount before you can unlock a higher rarity one. Plus, leveling your mount up also helps leveling your Riding Skill so you’re pretty much hitting two birds with one stone.

Here are some easy ways to level up your mounts in New World:

Mount Vittles are consumables that give extra Riding XP, making them the fastest way to boost your riding skills. They come in four tiers based on quality, with rarer Vittles requiring more costly ingredients to craft.

Here’s a table explaining whatMount Vittles Tiersare available inNew World: Aeternumand what crafting ingredients you need to create them. You’ll need to have at leastCooking Skill level 1and have access toKitchen tier 2orCamp tier 1to be allowed to craft theregular Mount Vittles.

You can findBarleyin fields or inside chests at farms aroundMonarch’s BluffsandWindsward. Water is easy to collect from freshwater streams, lakes, or wells in Settlements and Farms. Honey comes from beehives in towns or trees, and you can get Milk from chests or by milking cows on farms.

Take note that you can only feed your mount thrice a day, so I suggest going straight for Mount Vittles instead of the Basic ones, then just feeding your mount the better Mount Vittles as your Riding skill gets better.

Just like your character, your mount can wear its own unique armor and gear. Each mount has two main equipment slots: one for a Mount Shoe and one for a Mount Strap. You can also customize its look with cosmetic attachments. The Mount Strap gives combat buffs or boosts your mount’s abilities, while the Mount Shoe increases your speed on and off the road and helps recharge your dash faster.

Since I did mention that you’ll need to increase yourRidingskill to be really fast, here’s a way to increase them quickly.

Progression Through Races: Completing the first set of races will get your Riding Skill up to around level 90. The second set will take you to about level 120, while the third set will bring you to level 150. Additional races will then help you reach level 220. Completing the final sets will max out your riding skill at level 250. However, keep in mind that your speed increases hit max at level 200.

Other than the speed increase when you’re riding your mount, you can also get other bonuses when you level up yourRiding Skill. These include items that you can equip to your mount to change their appearance and performance. As well as better vittles for your mount. Here are some of the items you can equip to your mount as well as the buffs they provide:

Other mount buffs will increase Dash Capacity, Power, or Recharge speed. Forced dismounts are caused by getting hit by enemies while mounted.

Mounts are very insignificant in PvP so I wouldn’t recommend using them. you won’t be able to summon your mount while in a combat state, summoning will be delayed by 2 seconds, and any PvP damage will cancel the summon. When riding, any damage from another player will also dismount you and dismiss the mount making it very impractical. You’re better off going on foot.
