New World: Rise of the Angry Earth Expansion Announced Adding Mounts and More

Amazon Games announces the first expansion for New World: Rise of the Angry Earth will add new story, mounts and more in October.

New additions will be coming to the game such as a transformed zone called the Elysian Wilds. This area was previously known as the First Light but has since changed into a “lush greenery” now home to some pretty ferocious enemies including the primordial Beast Lords. This new storyline will usher in the fury of the Angry Earth which has influenced the once-populated dwellings. But one man’s impending doom is another man’s chance to mount up! Yes, it’s finally happening, players will get to ride wild animals into battle.

The expansion’s theme is centred around the Angry Earth, which seems to be angrier than usual affecting Aeternum even more so now.

Mounting up will of course come with its own Riding Trade Skill. This means leveling up to earn upgrades such as speed boosts, buffs, and even food to feed to your new beast friend. Just how many mounts will be introduced isn’t known but what we see from the trailer is a wolf and some sort of mammoth-looking thing. There’s also a glimpse of normal horse-type mounts but I’m more interested in the “primordial” nature theme Amazon is introducing.

New World will also be receiving an increased level cap to 65 and a gear score cap of 700.Trade Skillswill also get an increase to level 250, with new items New gear rarity for weapons and armor and even mounts will be coming to the game. If you played the game at launch one feature that would have made getting around a lot easier was the lack of mounts. Now you will be able to speedily make your way across Aeterneum upon the back of what looks to be a wolf in the announcement trailer.

Other key features include a Heartrune ability, letting you unleash your wild side unarmed with both light and heavy attacks. It looks to be inspired by the new wild theme, embodying Primal Fury. New end-game game content in the form of an Expedition or dungeon. The Savage Divide Expedition is only for the stout of heart or those who are level 62+.

A brand newweapontype joins New World in the form of a trusty one-handed Flail. You can use aShieldas an off-hand while having the Flail equipped. Use the power of arcane magic to both boost attacks and also buff enemies. Give enemies the disadvantage by debuffing them. The Flail is described as a mix of melee, and arcane magic as well as providing a good defence. A strong balance of offensive moves while still holding your own in the defence category.

The main storyline is also getting a bit of a rework. If you played early on in the launch you may have forgotten that there was a story in New World. This apparently has been a sentiment of many, as Amazon have decided to revamp the experience providing some new narratives, quest variety and also some surprises. This will be a welcomed change for those who just wanted a bit more story when running around chopping down trees.

Holiday events are coming back to the game which will be free for all New World players. Be prepared to embrace the all hallows eve with the return of the Baalphazu, Marquis of Terror. Help to rid Aeternum of the demon and his Pumpkinites to earn some Halloween-themed costumes and other limited rewards. I love a good fright night event and am glad this MMO is joining in.

But that’s not all the terror that is coming to the game. The Turkulon has been let loose. A fowl (sorry, not sorry), giant beast with turkey talons will be back with rewards for hunting it down.
