New World has released its first expansion, Brimstone Sands, that features a new zone, expedition, and a lot more. What makes this better is it’s free!
The Brimstone Sands expansion for New World features exciting content, which is not limited to long-time players. With new challenges to face, enemy types to fight against, and budding stories to discover, what’s not to like?
But these aren’t the only updates that have been released to the public. Amazon Games has revamped the starter areas and questline progression for beginners. This essentially smoothens their experience of the open-world MMORPG. Let’s dig deeper into what this will look like.
Now’s probably the best time to try out New World if you’ve ever been curious about the game’s current state.
Starting off with the story, new players can expect more focused plotlines centered inMonarch’s Bluffsand Windward. These areas will allow them to venture into King Arthur’s contributions and the sorceress’ curse, respectively. Upon reaching Everfall, they can also expect a streamlined series ofYonas’s quests, making their journey much more efficient.
New and returning players can also expect to easily venture into the different regions and zones, which have been given added depth. Along the way, players can participate in traveling and puzzle challenges as well as random events occurring here and there. You’ll never know what to expect with the enhanced starter zones.
Next off, we’ll take a look at the expansion’s titular Brimstone Sands. This new zone is a massive area, which extends way beyondEverfalls. It was known that ancient Egyptians walked, lived, and prospered.
Massive structures were built and systems had been effectively designed. But like any other civilization, they too eventually fell into ruin. It’s not known whether or not the godlike Ancients they met led to their demise or if it was caused by a series of strife and battle. Very few of them have lived to tell the tale. One such individual is the sorcerer Imhotep, whom you will be in close contact with to unravel the secrets of the past.
At present, the Brimstone Sands are once again under threat by the Corrupted 19th Legion of the Roman Empire. For one reason or another, they have taken a strong affinity for the ancient pyramid Akhet. Not much is known about their true motivations, and so it’s up to you to save what’s left of the Roman Empire.
New World players will immediately jump into the fray of activities, specifically participating in theEnnead Expedition. Here, they will be met with Anubian Guardians as well as Sand Demons who will attempt to stop them. The goal here is to bring back the rightful ruler of Brimstone Sands to restore peace and harmony among cities.
As part of the nightmarish celebrations this October, players are highly encouraged to take part in the Nightveil Hallow Event. Together with Salvatore the Mad, players will fight against the forces of Baalphazu the Demon, Marquis of Terror, and their horrible Pumpkinites.
Just remember that your character must be at least level 35 to begin the questline related to the event. Victorious players will receive exclusive rewards. Hopefully, this rewards dedicated folks with some spooky cosmetics.
Prior to the release of the expansion, New World already had a whopping 11weaponsunder its belt. Players had access to aBlunderbuss,hatchets,bows,muskets, and more. This time around, you will get to enjoy the mighty Greatsword.
The new weapon in New World will provide both offensive and defensive options thanks to the Onslaught and Defiance Trees, respectively. According to Amazon Games, the Greatsword can easily be paired with another martial weapon since the main abilities you should be focusing on are Strength and Dexterity.
New World players also have the new Heartgem Abilities to look forward to customizing their characters even more. Think of these as active skills, which can be triggered once they have been fully charged. To do so, players will simply have to perform the usual combat actions. This includes, but is not limited to, dealing damage and blocking incoming attacks. Let’s go through them one by one.
First off isDetonatewhere a high enough volume of Arcane energy will send you into a fiery spiral to deal massive damage. But that’s not the only advantage since you can continue being mobile on the battlefield while attacking enemies simultaneously.
Next isGrasping Vines, which is catered toward characters who have high Strength. This would allow them to root targets in place by punching the ground with their deadly fist.
Third, you haveStoneformfor glass cannon builds. This immediately hardens one’s skin to protect themselves from staggers, stuns, and other status effects. Note that you can continue to move and attack even while this ability is active.
Fourth isCannon Blast, which allows you to mercilessly annihilate enemies by firing a cannonball at them. Where the handheld cannon comes from, nobody knows.
And finally, there’sDark Ascentwhere you can grow wings to hover over targets and momentarily study the battlefield. Once satisfied, you will then charge into the ground to stagger and deal considerable damage against your foes.
