Editor at Fextralife. I look for the substantial in gaming and I try to connect video games to the emotions and stories they elicit. I love all things culture and history and have an odd fondness for the planet Jupiter. I think my dogs are pretty awesome too.
I didn’t mind that but I wasn’t crazy about it going into side-scroller mode so often. I feel that detracts from the gameplay a bit too much.
Pretty good, solid demo I gotta say.Not a fan of the forced bullet-hell style segments though.
It was p’cool. Voice acting and dialogue was shit though. But it’s the game that matters, and it felt nice. This kind of game isn’t something I typically play. Also it’s like one of the few console games that lets you fully remap the controls. I was able to set it up like a souls game having dodge on circle and the attacks on r1 and r2. So that was cool.
Played it, liked it, looking forward to the full game. It feels amazing in so many ways. Environment, characters, combat, etc.
Just finished it….where to begin. The badass-ness it emits, almost feels like Devil May Cry series (the older games), but in a more serious setting/story.A new waifu emerges…As i have said in another post-reply about Nier Automata the soundtrack is magnificent, really gives you the feelings you need to get lost in its world. The combat is smooth as said above by @theothermittens, the movement works well with the camera. It looks promising, gotta agree with @fexelea, not to forget the amazing anime-feel.
I encourage you all fellow unkindled to try it out, you will not be disappointed.P.S. For whoever downloads it and is gonna go through it, before starting the game, got to “Settings” and change the Language to Japanese with English subs. Trust me…
Combat is smooth and chaining combos is satisfying. I really like the dashing/dodging mechanic. The boss fight(s) are huge and epic. This was a lot of fun.
I noticed that I was opening up shortcuts throughout the level, but wasn’t really sure why? Was it just to go back and look for hidden items more easily?
I’ve never played Nier or any of the Drakengard games, so I have no idea how this compares.
I’ll write some impressions on the demo, so far the game feels great and looks promising!
I live to serve!
Downloading now. Thanks for the heads-up.
