Nightingale’s Playtest Exceeds 12K Prepping for Early Access
The survival crafting title Nightgale saw over 12,000 ‘Realmwalkers’ as the developer gets ready for early access launch.
A closed beta for Nightingale, the open-world survival crafting game saw over 12,000 players take part. Developer Inflexion Games is gearing up for its early access launch, but had some interesting trends uncovered from its playtest.
One stand feature that seems to be gaining some time from players is the game’s character customisation. According to the data revealed by the studio, players spent anywhere between 10 minutes to 90 minutes just creating their character, playing around with customisation options. All in all, 11,500 characters were created during the playtest, with over 2000 hours just being spent messing around with character looks. There was also one player who just spent 8 hours creating characters, and I thought I spent a long time customising my characters in games.
Of course, character customisation is only part of the game. The playtest was also to catch any major bugs and issues in the game. There were definitely some not a feature popping up in the game such as wildlife acting a tad more aggressive than expected. Players still braved the wilds though as 60,000 wolves and boars were taken down during the playtest.
Players seem to be favouring the wooden axe when it comes to weapon of choice, although this could mean it was the most commonly accessible weapon during their experience. Of course one of the draws of the game are the number of crafting options. The developer showed off some of the player creations which included some impressive structures appearing in different realms.
What’s also quite unique is the game’s overall setting. Dubbed a “Gaslamp Fantasy” world isn’t what you’d usually hear for an open world survival game. Think the Victorian era but with Fae Realms and arcane portals. The game can be played both solo and co-op. So if you fancy travelling realms with friends you can join a group of up to six for portal hopping.
Nightingalewill cost USD 29.99, even after its Early Access run. The game will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
