Nine Sols Has a Release Date on Consoles

Nine Solsis a hack ‘n’ slash action game inspired bySekiro’scombat, was released in May on PC, and now it will arrive on consoles on November 26 forPS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch, also available on Xbox Game Pass from launch.

The history of Red Candle Games is nothing short of eventful. After their acclaimed horror gameDetention, which had its own movie and TV series, they returned to the genre withDevotion. But despite its positive reception, the game was pulled due to a reference to Winnie the Pooh and Chinese president Xi Jinping.

Now the Taiwanese studio seeks a comeback withNine Sols, a side-scrolling action game that, after three years of development, will be available on November 26 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One (also on Game Pass), Switch, and PC.

Nine Solsoffers an original blend of Taoism and cyberpunk, dubbed “Taopunk,” where we follow the journey of Yi, a hero from the past who is awakened by a child. Yi embarks on a quest for vengeance against the Nine Sols, deities of a forgotten realm who prevent mortals from reaching the promised land.

The developers ofNine Solsopenly speak about their inspiration.Sekiro, FromSoftware’s masterpiece, defines the combat in this new title, where players must learn to slash, block, and parry attacks to survive the game’s intense battles.

In addition to platforming sections,Nine Solswill have players facing numerous enemies and challenging boss fights. To avoid dying, players will need to master all of Yi’s moves and combine them with his bow, especially against massive bosses that dwarf him in size.

The interconnected regions of New Kunlun will invite exploration, filled with secrets and pieces of Yi’s story that will allow players to piece together the hero’s past, with the help of the world’s inhabitants.

Red Candle Games’ previous titles were deeply rooted in Taiwanese folklore and history.Nine Solswill take that setting to a higher level, blending science fiction, Eastern mythology, and heroic fantasy elements.

Judging by the trailer, Red Candle has put a lot of effort into the visuals, with environments worthy of a high-budget anime production and hand-animated sprites with stunning results. Without a doubt, a gem of the genre awaits us this November.
