Path of Exile 2 Early Access Delayed Due To Server Issues
Path of Exile 2is delayed by a few weeks because, although the game is ready, the server infrastructure needs some additional adjustments.
Following Path of Exile’s release on PC, Steam Deck, PS4, PS5, and Xbox, it seemed that Path of Exile 2 was ready after the previous delay. Unfortunately, that’s not the case, and its Early Access release is now postponed by a few weeks due to server preparations.
The launch of what many call the “Diablo Killer” is now three weeks later than expected due to “last-minute work on the server infrastructure.”
It seems they want to ensure smooth functionality of microtransactions in both games, a feature that the game director, Jonathan Rogers, states requires more testing. While the game itself is ready, this aspect isn’t. “One of the key promises we made was that all microtransactions would work between Path of Exile 1 and 2,” Rogers said in a video.
“To achieve this, we have to reintegrate the account systems, not only between Path of Exile 1 and 2 but also across console realms. This means changing a lot of things:
Not only do we have to create a mountain of new systems, but we also have to make sure that all old data is backward compatible with them.”
As expected, logistical issues have arisen: “When you start migrating such old and data-heavy databases, you encounter all kinds of strange issues along the way,” Rogers explained.
In the video, the director ofPath of Exile 2mentioned a range of problematic data points, stating, “We need everything to be perfect to ensure no one loses anything they’ve paid for and that no accounts are affected.”
Despite everything he says in the linked video, Rogers adds that the November 15 date is still possible, though he’s cautious about meeting the deadline without risking errors.
Rogers seems to be planning a live stream in about four weeks, where he promises to go in-depth into the type of content we can expect when the game is properly launched.
If we visit the official website, everything has been updated, and the new date is now December 6.
The unexpected delay ofPath of Exile 2due to server issues may be disappointing for some, but a relief for perfectionists who want to avoid any errors.
