Path of Exile 2 will Add A Shooter like Mercenary Class
Revealed during Path of Exile 2’s latest developer update was the new Mercenary Class which adds shooter gameplay to the ARPG.
A new class was revealed during Path of Exile 2’s new showcase the Mercenary and is bringing a whole new style of new gameplay to the sequel. Along with the new class the game will be adding WASD controls, which will make movement much more fluid.
The Mercenary uses a crossbow weapon which comes with a few different ways to play. It can behave similarly to a shotgun, an assault rifle or even a sniper rifle. You can also carry two different crossbows at the same time, meaning being able to switch between.
How your crossbow can act differently will depend on the kind of ammo you use. Picking the incendiary ammo will make your crossbow spin fire, acting like a minigun. A sniper crossbow with the same ammo will explode upon impact.
Choosing frost ammo will freeze enemies in place and also creates other interesting effects or walls of ice. Using the Permafrost burst shot, can help to slow down a group of enemies. Using Armor Piercing ammo will even explode frozen enemies for some satisfying damage. This all depends on which crossbow you decide to wield. If you want some real devastation there’s a grenade launch attachment, with an assortment of grenades to fire.
Using Rapid Shot will slowly degrade an enemy’s armor, then you can switch back to burst shot to take care of them. Another interesting combination is using frost ammo with rapid shot, shooting the floor will slow enemies and you can use rapid shot to destroy them. If you use incendiary ammo with rapid shot it acts as a mini gun, but you will need to charge it up first to unleash more powerful attacks.
The Mercenary class looks like a fun class to take on in Path of Exile 2, especially being able to switch between cross bows on the fly.
Previously GGG showcase theDruid class, Warrior and Huntress. POE2 will bringdodge rolling, six new classesand will be a standalone game.
