Next Sony State of Play will feature the upcoming Action-RPG Rise of the Ronin and action adventure Stellar Blade.
The event kicks off on Wednesday,January 31, starting at 2PM PT / 5PM ET / 10PM GMT. It will be streamed live on platforms like YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok. Sony also outlines that this showcase will have have some “inappropriate” content for children. Stellar Blade does have an age filter on its official website, so it’s probably to do with this particular segment although other games may also be a bit mature.

One game to be particularly excited about is Rise of the Ronin. It’s the next Action-RPG from theNiohandWo Long Fallen Dynastydeveloper Team Ninja. So far they have shown thefactionsthat will be playing a major part of the game’s story. It’s based on the Boshin War in the late 19th century of Japan. Political turmoil will be rife, and lots of conflict will arise.
Players have the option to traverse the landscape on horseback or take to the skies with a glider for a view from above. Engage in close-quarters combat using melee weapons like swords and spears. Opt for ranged combat with firearms and throwable weapons for attacks from afar. For those preferring a stealthier, Ronin-style approach, grappling ropes offer flexibility and a little more discretion.

Combat is described to be fast-paced, with combos and further moves to unlock as you level. Skills will also be customisable to suit different playstyles. The game will be single player according to the FAQs on the official Playstation website. The gameplay will be a combination of brawn and strategy. There’s also a hint of “story-changing decisions” which may show up at a moment’s notice between the relentless action.
So far there is no release date for Stellar Blade, and what’s been shown so far is a mix of story and some combat preview.
