PlayStation theme aficionados Truant Pixel, has been working on a project to bring back the PlayStation 2’s look and feel to the PlayStation 4 console.
Titled “Legacy Dashboard Dynamic Theme”, this upcoming PS4 add-on was helped put together with input from developer Naughty Dog, Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan and SIE America, in order to accurately recreate the experience.
Which actually shows, as seen below, with Truant Pixel nailing the aesthetics and sound design of the original PS2 interface. The theme can be displayed in either 1080p or 4K resolutions, with its animations running at 60fps.
The video below gives us a behind-the-scenes look at its concept, along with insight into the technical challenges the team faced such as memory limitations.
