Razer Launches Online Game Store
Razer the popular gaming hard-ware company has released an online game store, adding another platform for gamers to purchase games digitally. So far the website is in beta meaning the store is not in it’s entirety.
Customers can purchase game keys online via theRazer Game Storecurrently for platformsSteamandUPlay. By using the store users gain access to discounts through their loyalty, earning loyalty reward credits called “zSilver”. These credits can be put towards purchasing further games or even Razer hardware. “zSilver” are earned by purchasing games with cash or “zGold”.
Games currently available include the latest releases such as Farcry 5, Ni no Kuni: II and Warhammer: Vermintide. The site also offers pre-releases such asVampyr,Pillars of Eternity IIand Battletech.
You could argue Razer is offering a simpler way to purchase games by offering multiple platform keys all in one place. Although they are not making their own platform to play games, it could be a convenient way to find a wide range of games in many genres all on one site. As there are already other third party websites that exist but focus on selling keys second hand rather than fresh keys, this could be a better/safer way to purchase keys for games. Whether Razer will continue to offer better value than purchasing straight from the platforms themselves, only time will tell.

what we need is someone to compete with Steam as a PC platform, not just a distribution store.
Steam has definitely become far too lax of late and has left it’s store to the dogs basically. Valve needs a strong competitor to pressure them into improving their quality control.
