Remnant 2 Reveals the Hunter Archetype

Remnant 2 lets loose the Hunter Archetype. This class is the best when it comes to taking out targets from as far away as possible.

Developer Gunfire Games just revealed the trailer for the fifth and finalarchetypefor Remnant 2, the Hunter. As expected of Hunters, this class focuses on precision long-ranged gameplay.

You can expect to strategically take out targets one by one. Who knows, maybe you can take everything out before they even know what hit them!

The Hunter’s Perks, Traits, and Abilities all focus on how to easily control the battlefield in their favor. Information is key and is further brought out by a class mechanic called Mark. These Marks highlight affected enemies and increase the Hunter’s Crit strike against them. Remnant 2 Hunters can apply Mark through various skills.

First of which is called “Hunter’s Mark”. This powerful group ability makes its return from the first game. Hunter’s Mark immediately highlights all nearby enemies, even those behind walls. Essentially giving the entire group information on where their enemies lie. Hunters also get increased ranged and melee damage for the entire duration.

Hunter’s Focus is their second skill. It allows Hunters who aim down sights to apply a Mark on the foe within their crosshairs. While this is already powerful in itself, continuing to concentrate on your target will cause the Hunter to enter the Focused state. This will essentially increase your damage and crit change by a significant percentage. The powerful buff will remain active as long as the Hunter continues to aim.

Last but not least for this Remnant 2 archetype is Hunter’s Shroud. This skill turns the character translucent, making it easier for them to move around and reposition themselves. The Hunter can exit this state by attacking, which will apply Mark to the foes hit. You will reenter Shroud if the Hunter stops attacking for a brief period.

So, we’ve gotten to the exciting active skills. How about theTraitsand other passives?

Hunters in Remnant 2 get the powerful Prime Perk called Dead to Rights. This makes it so that Ranged Weakspot Damage will extend the duration of any active Hunter skills. Remember Hunter’s Mark and Hunter’s Focus? As long as you can keep on hitting enemies’ weak spots, you’ll keep these buffs active theoretically forever. This is exciting as it rewards skillful gameplay.

Other swappable passiveperkslike Deadeye increase ranged damage. Return to Sender makes refilling ammo much easier if you can consistently land Weakspot or Critical hit damage.

Closing off the Hunter in Remnant 2 is the Longshot Archetype Trait. This increases the player’s Weapon Range bonus, making it so that farther shots remain accurate and deadly. The perk will affect every ranged weapon, from pistols to rifles to shotguns, or even bows.

Unlike Remnant: From the Ashes, which only offered three classes, Remnant 2 introduces a greater selection of classes to choose from. In Remnant 2, you are not restricted to your initial archetype choice. As you advance in the game, you have the opportunity to unlock and switch to different classes. Swapping to a new archetype does not incur any cost, but you will need to level up the new archetype from the beginning.

Initial Archetype selection also seems to be more impactful. The previous game’s class selection only dictated your startingweapons, armor, andskills. Now you have various Archetype specific Skills, Traits, and Perks that can’t be swapped around as easily.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, theArchetypes in Remnant 2are looking to be very different from each other.Gunslingerslook to be the ultimate pistoleers. They can quickly unleash a literal Bulletstorm into the middle of their foes.Perhaps this class would be the only one daring enough to go toe to toe with a Hunter. Handlersalso look to be quite fun, especially since he gets to command a cute Doggo. This pet has a bite much, much stronger than his bark.

The previousChallengeralso looks to be quite fun, as he can yell his enemies into submission. This melee-heavy behemoth is also just too angry to die. They can be further given longevity by the healingMedicarchetype.
