Remnant 2: The Awakened King DLC Preview
In this Remnant 2 video, we’re going to take a look at the Awakened King, which is the first DLC for Remnant 2. This DLC will be launching on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Series S on November 14th.
Recently, I was given a presentation about theAwakened King DLCand got to ask Gunfire a bunch of questions about the DLC. In this video, we’ll go through what I learned and discuss a bit about Remnant 2 and DLCs. This is the first of three DLCs coming to Remnant 2, with more scheduled for next year.
You can either buy theDLCbundle and save $5 or pick up this DLC for $9.99. Anyone who purchased the ultimate edition of Remnant 2 will have access to this DLC at no additional cost.
The Awakened King DLC follows the story of the one true king who has been awakened and is out for blood. This character was mentioned in the base game, and he’s quite upset. The DLC takes place in theLosomnareaof the game, which, if you recall, is a Bloodborne-looking biome. The size of this DLC is about half of the regular biome size. This should offer about 3 to 5 hours of gameplay. Future DLCs are expected to be of similar size, set in different biomes of the game.
With this DLC, new quests, dungeons, and areas based on the world of Losomn are being added. The player will need to face off against the One True King who has been corrupted by the root.
You’ll also have access to a newarchetype, theRitualist, allowing for moreclasscustomization viaperksandtraits. New equipment and items will also be available for creating new builds. This brings the total number of archetypes to 12, joining those such as theAlchemist,Challenger,Summoner,Engineer, andArchon.
One interesting aspect of the Awakened King DLC is that the main area of the expansion is more static than other areas of Remnant 2. This change is aimed at improving the storytelling experience. Dungeons and other gameplay areas will remain randomized, but the main outside areas will provide a more structured experience, similar to games like Dark Souls.
Because there are many more static areas now in the Remnant 2 DLC, the team can do many things that they couldn’t in a purely randomized world. A specific example shown by the developers was when they had the player overlooking the environment high up from a balcony. This created a cinematic moment where you’re like “Wow, I just went through here”.
Not much has been shared about the new Archetype, the Ritualist. We only know that it will be focused on status effects, and not much else. The developers are sure to release more information in the coming weeks (and we’ll be sure to update the Wiki as well!)
To unlock this DLC, the areas can naturally appear during your story campaign as one of the biomes that you would go through in a regular playthrough. If you don’t encounter it, you can access it through the World Stone in adventure mode.
Another cool thing about the Awakened King, like the DLC of the previous game, not everyone needs to own it to play together. You can stillplay onlinewith friends who own it by joining their worlds.
The developers have also discussed the future of Remnant 2, and potential additions to keep the game fresh over the coming years. While they aren’t looking to turn it into a live service game, they are considering different game modes and updates to keep players coming back. These updates might not require additional payments. The developers are eager to receive feedback from players on these potential changes.
As the developers of Remnant 2 are also big fans of gaming in general, they are eager to implement features from completely different genres being thrown into the mix. Perhaps we could see some minor roguelike elements or other things.
The Awakened King DLC is an exciting first major addition to Remnant 2. It’s part of a broader plan to continually enhance the game, and players can look forward to more content in the future. Your feedback on these changes will be valuable to the developers, so be sure to share your thoughts.
Be sure to stay tuned for more Remnant 2 content. We’re planning on doing some morebuilds for Remnant 2, specifically for the DLC content. TheRemnant 2 Wikiwill also be constantly updated with all the new equipment and other stuff, so you can see what’s there and begin theory-crafting builds.
