Resident Evil 9 May Have Leaked Its Protagonist & More Details
More and more leaks are surfacing with details aboutResident Evil 9, the highly anticipated new installment ofCapcom’spopular franchise. While the company has not yet confirmed the project, various insiders have shared information about its world, main location, and revelation.
A new report has emerged clarifying a previous leak related to the game’s protagonist. According to the details, one of the most iconic and beloved characters in the saga will star in the new title.
Various sources, includingDusk Golem, have speculated about the protagonist ofResident Evil 9. A recent leak claimed thatLeon S. Kennedywould be the protagonist of the game’s prologue and that, subsequently, another character would take over the story.
However, several informants have clarified this report in the past few hours, stating thatDusk Golemwas actually referring to something else. Now, it is said thatLeon S. Kennedywill be the protagonist throughout the entire story of the title.
That being said, it’s not clear whether Leon will be the sole playable character or if there will be a co-protagonist. Fans are excited about the idea of Leon being the protagonist of the new installment, as he is one of the most beloved characters in the saga.
As you may well know, Leon Kennedy was the main character in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, but the last time we saw him in action was in the sixth installment of the franchise. If we understand that the ninth installment will take place after Village, we will see an older version of Leon Kennedy affected by age.
Now, Dusk Golem has returned to shed light on the matter and shared new details of the project. In a social media post, they explained that Capcom usually “greenlights new initiatives in sets of 3” and used examples such asResident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, and Devil May Cry 5, which were the first titles developed using the RE Engine graphics engine.
The informant claims thatDragon’s Dogma 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Resident Evil 9received similar greenlights, as they take advantage of the new “expanded open world functionalities” of the company’s graphics engine. Many fans may be concerned, fearing that the horror video game will stray too far from the classic essence of the series if it becomes an open-world adventure; however, Dusk Golem reassured the community and emphasized that Capcom wants to maintain the DNA of the franchises.
Although these details are very exciting, we must remember that they are not confirmed. As such, we recommend taking them with caution and waiting for the Japanese company to officially reveal the future of the intellectual property.
