Rise of the Ronin Unveils Three Major Factions in the Action-RPG
Team Ninja has shared details about the three factions in the upcoming Action-RPG Rise of the Ronin.
Team Ninja has unveiled the trio of contending factions fighting for supremacy in the upcoming Action-RPG, Rise of the Ronin.
The game is set in the tumultuous Bakumatsu era of Japan’s history, at the latter end of the Tokugawa Shogunate. The main factions in the game mirror the political strife that characterised that period in Japan.
The Sabuku– Our first faction to be introduced is the Sabuku, who are advocates of the Tokugawa shogunate. They aim to “maintain the current political structure”, with chief minister Naosuke Ii and the clever geisha Taka Murayama as their prominent figures.
The Tobaku– On the other side of the political spectrum, the Tobaku are an opposing faction to the shogunate with the aim of reinstating imperial governance. The two characters are the infamous ronin Ryoma Sakamoto and Kogoro Katsura. These highly trained warriors are not to be messed with.
The Obei– Lastly the third faction introduced is the Obei faction, they are known as the Western opposition. The Bakumatsu era is a time of transition between the Edo and Meiji era. It also is a time of modernisation and the rise of the Western forces, who are seen as a possibility for a trade partnership. In these western forces, there are a couple of major players being the the United States Commodore Matthew Perry and the British diplomat Rutherford Alcock who has an interest in “Japanese craftsmanship”.
If you’re eager to get your hands on some commemorative Rise of the Ronin digital flair, be sure to grab the free Playstation avatars available on the official website. You’re not limited to just one either, you can grab them all in preparation for the launch in March.
In case you missed it, Rise of the Ronin is by the same developer of theNiohseries andWo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Team Ninja. However, Ronin will be an open-world title with places to explore such as Yokohama and Edo, a couple of rather historical places.
Players can explore upon horseback and even take up a glider to see things from above. Use melee weapons such as swords and spears to fight up close. Take up ranged weapons such as firearms and throwable weapons to attack from afar. For a more stealth Ronin approach use grappling ropes with stealth flexibility.
