Rumor: Fallout 76 to be an Online Survival RPG
Bethesda Game Studio is leading this version ofFalloutcalledFallout 76and has been teasing viewers with snippets of information about the game. With a short trailer that hints of Vault 76 which is rooted inFalloutlore.
There has been some buzz around the newFalloutgame that was originally set to be a multiplayer version ofFallout 4but apparently has now evolved into a different version of the game.Fallout 76got a short but sweet trailer that shows whatVault 76looks like, check out the trailer below:
Inspired by games likeDayzandRust,Fallout 76is speculated to be a multiplayer online survival RPG. WhileFalloutdoesn’t have your typical zombies, it does have “ghouls” which are people who were exposed to toxic radiation.
Vault76which has been mentioned in bothFallout 3andFallout 4but unlike these games its set 20 years after the nuclear war, rather than 200 years. This means that things are far less developed than the environments in the last twoFalloutgames.
Not only isFallout 76being developed in the home ofSkyrimandFallout 4but in the main offices of Bethesda Game Studios which theyopened earlier this year. The branch in Austin where it’s being developed was formerly known as Battlecry Studios.

Whatever they do, I just hope it keeps PvP and coop question separate, the way ESO does it. I give them the benefit of the doubt, since it’s bethesda, but I’m always wary of anything online-centered.
How is ESO a distraction from regular Elder Scrolls? ESO is completely developed by Zenimax – nothing to do with the Bethesda studio behind Skyrim that is in-house Bethesda.
Bethesda Softworks just publishes ESO
I know that the Blizzard universe doesn’t coincide with Fallout, but couldn’t help but think of Soldier 76 from Overwatch when seeing that number lol.
I’m not much for the Fallout series, but the distraction that ESO is from work on the main series agitates me.
I hope it’s not online required or focused. It would be interesting to see Fallout with some more survival elements……well, original and fun ones that is.
Yeah there’s really not much information about this game to make a decision on like/dislike for me… One, it’s Fallout, but I think they might be keeping the voiced protagonist which kind of killed 4 for me. If they have a decent story this time around, maybe I’ll be interested.
There was a rumor a while ago about Chris Avellone, the original writer of Fallout working on a new Fallout title. That gives me a little hope, but nothing is confirmed yet.
To me this feels like the “Metal Gear Survive” of the Fallout series. Hopefully I’m wrong, but given the apparent feature set I doubt I’ll ever play it anyway.
If this ends up being something akin to ESO, with a persistent world of questing with others, I may need to book off life for a year.
If it turns out to be PvP only (like the Dark Zone was in the Division), which was my first thought when the mentioned DayZ, I’m going to be extremely disappointed. Coop FO would be intriguing.
