Rumour: Elden Ring Mobile Game in Development

According to a recent report, Tencent is working on bringing FromSoftware’s massive game Elden Ring to mobile.

While we wait for the expansionShadow of the Erdtree, details of a possible mobile version of Elden Ring have appeared online. According to a report by Reuters, Tencent is working on bringing the souls game to mobile. The title will get a revamp, transforming into something similar toGenshin Impact‘s free to play model, supporting in-app purchases. Even uttering those words it’s hard to wrap your head around the idea of this massive hit game becoming a mobile title, let alone with a free-to-play model.

But recently Tencent has axed a similar large franchise to mobile game in December which was based on NieR. They are in search of the next major game which they can rival the likes of Genshin Impact by the Hoyaverse developer according to Reuter’s sources.

Tencent has in the past brought such major titles as PUBG Mobile to fruition, which continues to deliver strong revenue. But they are still on the lookout for their next major hit. According to the article, the progress of development is “slow”. It could be some years until we see anything.

Fans are still awaiting the next chapter of Elden Ring, the DLC Shadow of the Erdtree which has yet to make an appearance this year. No announcement have been made, but trickles ofrumourshave arisen with a possible announcement eventhis month. More backend entries on Steam have implied something is coming but both FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have remained rather silent on the matter.
