Rumour: Hogwarts Legacy Developer’s Eye on Next Project

Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Software is already advertising job roles for the next AAA console game.

Avalanche Software has released details of a job role that details their next project which sets to be an “unannounced AAA console title”. This comes hot off the heels of their latest major title Hogwarts Legacy which will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One on May 5th, as well as Nintendo Switch on July 25th.

The job listing was first reported by Game Rant which screenshot the original job listing mentioning the AAA console game, however if you visit the job listing now that line has since been removed. This could be because the job has been filled, a major adjustment in the role or maybe something they are still brewing.

Theopen-world RPGHogwarts Legacywas what many have been waiting for for years. A game that reimagined the wizarding world and introduced fresh storylines that you could explore upon broomstick or hippogriff. Many have hoped that aDLCmay be in the works, maybe following the sizeableQuidditchpitch that didn’t quite get the gameplay we hoped. Warner Bros. has stated that they weren’t currently working on a DLC as for now. But that doesn’t mean that might be something in future.

Since the game’s great success, the developer could be working on a follow-up title. The Wizarding World has other projects in progress including a new HBO series based on the original books despite the recent controversy concerning the author’s involvement. Another title that might spur more Quidditch fever is the recent announcement of the “fast-paced online multiplayer game” Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions by Unbroken Studios. Apparently, the title has been in development for several years and will be published under Portkey Games. It recently held its playtest but seems to be held under secrecy due to its limited invitation and closed playtest nature.

With Hogwarts Legacy toppingsingle-player viewership on Twitchduring its launch andtopping Playstation downloadsin February, it would make sense that a new title could be on the horizon, a sequel.

The last-gen console release was pushed to May, which means it’s arriving in the same month as Switch exclusive titleThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The Switch version however is arriving a couple of months later, so at least for Switch players gives you some breathing room between open-world titles.
