Rumour: Yoko Taro Could Have Been Teasing NieR 3 at Orchestra Concert

NieR creator Yoko Taro may have been hinting at a possible NieR 3 game at recent concert in London.

A recent NieR Orchestra Concert in London may have been key in revealing NieR 3. The concert which took place earlier this month celebrated the magnificent score produced for the game Automata surrounding The End of Data. Where this concert differs from other game concerts, is that this one is a brand new epilogue forEnding Eproviding a mix of visuals and music to tell the tale. While that’s excitement enough for any fan, now there’s speculation that creator Yoko Taro may have been teasing the next instalment of the game.

According to posters on reddit, the show displayed the text “REPENT” during the night. Repent refers to a recording that repeats the word. While spelt normally doesn’t raise any eyebrows but what was shown was the word spelt with a 3 instead of an E, “REP3NT” for the final appearance of the word. This has led fans to be hopeful that Yoko Taro who was also in attendance to be literally spelling out the future of the franchise. Taro could be just pulling at heartstrings but according to those who were in attendance he asked the audience to cheer loudly if they wanted a sequel. London wasn’t the only place he made an appearance and according to the thread, other concerts also showed the same possible tease.

Not to put a damper on things but the spelling could refer to the the malfunctioning robots in the story who start to glitch out affecting their communication to spell correctly. Of course, nothing has been confirmed as the developer will probably keep things close to their chest until there is something to show. Take this theory with a pinch of salt until we hear official confirmation.

Previously the producer had shared during G-Star last year that the franchise would continue as long asYoko Taro was alive. But at the time said they were working on another project. Taro has also previously said that “NieR is finished“. Yoko and producer Yosuke Saito had explained that the game was such a “niche” idea that they originally through it wouldn’t be a big sell in other countries. Little did they know the game would go on to sell 8 million copies worldwide. Saito shared previously at G-Star “It’s not easy” when referring to whether they can repeat that success.
