Salt and Sanctuary Coming to Playstation Vita on March 28th

Today on thePlaystation Blog, Ska Studios announced that their 2D Action RPGSalt and Sanctuarywould be coming to the Playstation Vita on Tuesday, March 28th. The game released early last year on the PS4, and a few months later on PC.

A port to the Vita has always been in the plans and developer Sickhead Games were the studio who oversaw getting the game onto the handheld console, with the 2 person team at Ska Studios providing more minor support. True to their word, the game is crossbuy so if you already own it on PS4, you can download it for free on your Vita. Once you do you’ll be able to experience this love letter to the Souls Series on the move.

There has been a vocal demand from devoted Vita owners who have been hoping for this game and it’s finally going to literally be in our hands. One of the critiques of the Vita is that it lacks good software support, but that definitely can’t be said come this Tuesday.

Dusting off and charging that Vita for Tuesday? We can’t wait to take this game on the go. If you are, be sure to give the Salt and Sanctuary Wiki a visit for everything you need! We’ve got all of the game’sweapons, skills, locations, maps, bossesand more filled out and with some great detailed strategies.

Editor at Fextralife. I look for the substantial in gaming and I try to connect video games to the emotions and stories they elicit. I love all things culture and history and have an odd fondness for the planet Jupiter. I think my dogs are pretty awesome too.

yep…I have thought the leaps of faith were integral part of the game’s design but I really doubt it now that I have seen the exact same screen I was stuck on on vita and PS4 and the 10% missing were changing everything.

That’s good to know. Here I thought the choice of level design and constant leaps of faith were jarring as hell; turns out I should’ve been playing this on PS4. Well whatever, it was still pretty fun.

I was stuck not finding my way through so I looked at youtube for orientation….I realized that you can see much MUCH further on PS4 than on vita: in the tomb of dead gods, the door to access the boss was just not visible from the ledge you are stuck on….whereas the PS4 featured it just fine…I guess in most cases the downscaling of Vita screen is fine but sometimes, you realize that you are left so clueless on vita just because you simply have no way of actually finding your way out.

New patch completely got rid of crashes for me!

Also, blood magic is awesome

I bought it and played it 1st on the Vita. One thing I can say is, I have a hard time telling what is what when it comes to enemies. Glad it’s a cross buy and maybe enjoy it on the TV.

i told y’all this would take a year to come out a year ago

Hager’s Cavern and the mire were crashing my game nonstop. The only way I could get through them was by moving at a slow pace and killing everything on screen before continuing forward.

Once I got about halfway through the game, I’ve started experiencing a good amount of crashes.

On my first character I ran with the Kureimoa for long time. That thing is nuts for a melee character. If you end up the same route I did, there’s a weapon that can be the successor to the Kureimoa that is flat out ludicrous (but awesome). The game delivers on many levels for fun.

yeah…Starting over was not that hard since like any “souls” game, playing it again after the initial struggling discovery is a breeze anyways….I stumbled across a little called Kureimoa and fell in love immediately lol. Now everything dies in one hit.

some things do not change I guess ^_^

I’m not too shocked by this (though I understand the frustration). They treated it almost like a new game with the cross buy exception. So two trophy sets and all. Glad to hear the reinstall helped on the Vita at least. Some of the bosses would be impossible without precision rolling, and there’s at least one area with platforming elements that’s a pain in the neck even with great input response.

I haven’t played the vita version, but the PS4 version is fantastic. I enjoyed it so much

I reinstalled it and it seems better indeed.Weird.

now problem: I played 2 hours on PS4…wanted to transfer my save just to realize you can’t share your saves between platforms!

ffs seriously?

anyways…will stick to PS4 since DkS3 is finally making me utterly sick (yeah! I am free!)

I have a launch model Vita, but like any software issue, sometimes it’s not always predictable.

That’s a major bummer. Maybe reinstalling?

I have an old vita model…maybe this is why…but hell! I swear the difference in handling is huge. I have tried supermeat boy versions to see if the PS4 played also better but nope…it is just fine on both.so it is just S&S.It sucks coz I really wanted to play this game in my bus time…ah well, super meaty boy it will be then.

That sucks. Aside from the crazy initial loading I haven’t had any issues whatsoever. My mage has been fine

OK guys…sorry to be the party killer but here it is:

I did not play S&S at release.now that I got my life back, I decided to get it on the vita.I started playing and was shocked by how hard it was…because of how hard to control the character it is: terribly unresponsive controls, weird non consistent timings etc….played for 2 hours trying different starting classes on the bus…found it really interesting but something seemed wrong in the controls, making it artificailly hard.

tonight I decided to give a shot at the PS4 version

HOLY FUCKING CHRIST!

this is just not the same game at all: very responsive (you can change direction easily between hits…it is barely feasible 20% of the time on vita) you push a button and immediately something happens…on vita, I felt like I was doomed to get hit no matter what if I did not foresee things so early.

the sodden knight changed from utter monster to little kitten.

the vita version is a bad port.

just so you know.

Good eye. I didn’t see that PS3 was a download option. I didn’t see any mention that it would hit PS3. Did you try and load it at all? That’d be a neat extra if it worked.

I just saw that it is also playable on PS3. Was this always the case or just now that it is released on Vita.

Hopefully the Vita-Version will land in the EU Shop soon, because i want to play it on my Vita as well… can’t wait for it!

Heads up, when I went to download this on my Vita it started to charge me.

I went to the PS4 version and ”bought” it again for free and it then let me download the Vita

Just a reminder in all the chaos of that “other game” people are playing around here, that this drops today!

Hmm I might just buy a vita now.

Holy heck! Yes!

Wooohooo! People are going to be so happy about this
