Sea of Stars Studio Talks DLC and New Game Potential
Developer behind indie RPG Sea of Stars has recently talked about what could be coming to the game DLC-wise plus future games.
If you’re been enjoying the retro callback to RPGs, Sea of Stars you will probably be hoping that more content will be coming to the game. In a recent Q&A livestream, the director of Sabotage Studio touched upon the feedback from fans and what they could bring to the game in future.
Sea of Stars already has one DLC Throes of The Watchmaker planned which adds a full side adventure featuring the Watchmaker and a “clockwork conundrum”. DLC was successfully funded as part of the game’s Kickstarter stretch goal campaign. But beyond this, there could be another under the name “Shades of Kunus’nuku” which has been dubbed a “theoretical” DLC for now. For now, they will focus on the first DLC. Further content is coming in the form of Single-Player+ which adds co-op elements.
As for future games, director Thierry Boulanger explained a couple of ideas of having a new game in the same universe but maybe a different genre. There could also be a standalone version of the minigame Wheels but doesn’t really want a smartphone version. While these ideas are just ideas for now, there seems to be plenty of opportunity for more games even a sequel.
In case you missed it, Sea of Stars is heavilyinspired by classic turn-based RPGs. From its pixel sprite artstyle, to its game systems. However, bringing a fresh take with an exploration system that will let players not only explore on foot, but run, swim, climb or even jump.
Sea of Stars is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
