Skull and Bones Open Beta Announced for February Plus Year 1 Roadmap

Ahead of the long-awaited Skull and Bones launch next month, an open beta has been announced for February 8th.

The pirate Action-RPG Skull and Bones is finally making its way across troubled waters, as Ubisoft announces an open beta ahead of its launch in February. The launch date, set for February 16, remains steady, and Ubisoft has recently announced an open beta that will provide everyone with an opportunity to experience the game firsthand before its official release.

Ubisoft has also outlined a 1-year roadmap which sets to kick off with Rise of the Kingpins which will be split into four seasons lasting for 12 weeks. Each season will feature different activities such as Legendary Heists, world events, and possible takeover opportunities to gain power. Players will need to prepare their ship to take on the notorious Pirate Lord. There will be different seasonal items to earn such as new ships, weapons plus cosmetics suiting each season’s theme.

There will be more challenging, higher-stakes endgame content against the Kingpins. Once an actual ally, players will need to group up in threes to take on the leaderboard. Each season will offer prizes and will reset at the beginning of each new season. Limited-time events such as the Dragon Boat race will commence in the second season. Also planned are quality-of-life features, with two major ones expected to arrive in the third and fourth seasons.

The open beta is scheduled to commence on February 8 and conclude on February 11. It will be accessible via the Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store, in addition to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, with both crossplay and cross-progression features enabled. Participants in the beta will have the opportunity to attain an Infamy level of up to Tier 6. However, Ubisoft has not disclosed the total number of tiers. Beta players also stand a chance to earn up to five unique rewards, which include ship cosmetics, an emote, a weapon, and a Pandal Lemur pet.

Should you choose to continue your journey, any progress made during the beta will be transferred to the full release. The complete version of Skull and Bones is currently available for pre-purchase. The base game is priced at $60, while the premium edition, priced at $90, offers additional perks. These include up to three days of early access, The Ballad of Bloody Bones Collection, two bonus missions, a digital art book, a soundtrack, and an unlocked premium battle pass.
