Soulframe Goes into Early Pre-Alpha Next Month; Teases You Can Pet the Wolf
Digital Extremes gives a small update on the free-to-play MMORPG Soulframe which heads into early pre-alpha next month.
A recent Twitch stream from developer Digital Extremes gave a quick update on the title Soulframe. Plans for the free-to-play game were shared, with a very early pre-alpha in the works for next month, taking place in mid-December. Those interested in testing out the game can apply for the pre-alpha phase through the official website. Completing the phase won’t go unrewarded, as players will earn the title ‘Envoy’.
Invites will be available in batches for PC players, with the first lots being in the few hundred and then will be increased after that. The devs have stressed it’s a “pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha”. TheWarframedeveloper’s plan is to include the community and gain feedback through the development process. One key feature heading into the early pre-alpha is co-op gameplay. They do plan to add crossplay, although as this is quite early in development, this will be tested later.
So far specs haven’t been revealed for Soulframe, but you can expect more demanding hardware. The developers will however be scaling down on the number of NPCs for the first phase of external testing. The main focus will be combat and visuals.

In a long-running tradition of “Can you pet the dog?” or in this case can you pet the wolf, Digital Extremes showed a quick encounter with a massive beast getting a good old head scratch. The size of the wolf next to the player’s character is a monstrous fluffball. The graphics look pretty good so far, with plenty of detail.
Expect a well-stocked armoury of weapons including swords, spears, axes and even crossbows. Soulframe will support multiple chapters when it comes to the game’s narrative, but going for a more non-linear experience compared to traditional games.
