Star Wars Outlaws Will Have the Biggest Marketing Campaign in Ubisoft’s History
Star Wars Outlawswill have the biggest marketing campaign ever seen for a launch by the French company. This was confirmed by Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, during the most recent AMA.
Star Wars Outlaws is a dream come true for many fans of the galactic franchise. It is set between Episodes V and VI, leaving aside the mystique of the Force to focus on crime.
It is the ideal game for those who dreamed of being galactic rogues, in the purest Han Solo style. The title introduces us to Kay Vess, a young smuggler who survives as best she can in a galaxy ruled by the Galactic Empire.
Ubisoft Massive, creators of The Division and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, have already completed the development of the game (it’s gold), and it is confirmed that Uncharted was not the main inspiration behind its protagonist and gameplay style.
The game also delves into the landing mechanics on each planet (many prefer it over its counterpart in Starfield), the duration of the adventure, and a feature that was removed during development.
Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, analyzed the company’s performance in the current fiscal quarter during a Q&A session accessible via MP1ST.
Neither Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, nor Skull and Bones had such huge budgets. The new Star Wars game could become a mega-success for Ubisoft if things go as they should.
Yves Guillemot predicts that the game will sell around five million copies in a quarter (from late August to the holiday season), which would be excellent and serve as an economic lifeline for Ubisoft.
To achieve this, Ubisoft has gone all out in terms of quality and marketing and promotion levels prior to the launch.
“What we are considering is a solid launch for Star Wars Outlaws. This is because it is one of the most anticipated games in the industry this year and reflects a very positive sentiment from the community, and also due to the fact that we are presenting the largest marketing campaign ever for a Ubisoft game.”
