Star Wars Outlaws Will Include a Highly Requested Option
Star Wars Outlawswill give us the option to disable the yellow paint on every climbable surface with ‘Explorer Mode’. This Ubisoft title will be released onPC, Steam Deck, PS5, and Xbox Series X|Sthis August.
It seems that this game, set betweenThe Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, will give us the option to disable the yellow paint on every climbable surface with ‘Explorer Mode’. This technique has been debated for a few years, emerging every time it appears, most recently inFinal Fantasy VII Rebirth. It can be helpful, but the criticism grew when it started to appear everywhere.
The yellow paint on doors, breakable crates, levers, ledges, and rocks generated a heated debate for not allowing free exploration, which might be why Ubisoft Massive is giving this option to users. InStar Wars Outlaws, ‘Explorer Mode’can be activated to disable the “guide color on key navigation elements” in the world. In other words, no more yellow paint.
As stated by PC Gamer, it doesn’t seem there were differences between activating this or not. Although a Ubisoft representative said that, in reality, this mode wasn’t deployed in the game. It seems it will be worth trying becauseStar Wars Outlawshas yellow paint by default. This “guide color” has been with us since games like Uncharted, but the most notable criticisms are recent.
Many players want to discover things on their own in sandbox-style action-adventure games, to have that feeling of achieving it by themselves without dependencies. The aforementioned media says thatStar Wars Outlaws’ ‘Explorer Mode’is a double-edged sword, as its developer claims to have jumped toward a climbable wall only to find it was a simple wall.
