Star Wars: Unlimited Sold Out After Just 1 Month
This means that Star Wars: Unlimited is a smashing success, at least initially. Players are not only loving the unique art style of the cards, and the faster paced gameplay than many other TCGs, but there are also enough chase cards in Spark of the Rebellion to keep collectors interested, even though FFG has publicly stated that they will be re-printing Spark of the Rebellion to demand.
With the game being sold out nearly everywhere, this has lead to the doubling ofBooster Box prices on the secondary market, now over 200 USD, as collectors and players rush to pick them up while they still can.
Fantasy Flight Games briefly has a pre-order for more boxes of the gameon Amazon, with the delivery date between 1-2 months from now. This provides an indication that Spark of the Rebellion should be back in 1-2 months, at which point prices should come back down as thousands of more boxes flood the market, however FFG did raise the price of their boxes from 119$ US to 130 $ US.
FFG claimed they would not have supply issues this time around, something that plaguedStar Wars: Destiny, their previous Star Wars TCG that sputtered out due to a shortage of product that lead to stagnation and interest loss. Many players and collectors are worried that this might happen again with Star Wars: Unlimited.
FFG was prepared this time around and printed way more product than before, but it was still not enough to last a full month. With more product being printed soon, however, it’s likely that Star Wars: Unlimited will not suffer the same fate as Destiny, at least not for some time.
FFG has already created the first 9 sets of the game as well, with 3 of them being announced publicly, and the next Set: Shadows of the Galaxy, launching in July of this year, with Twilight of the Republic launching sometime later in Q3 or Q4. Fantasy Flight Games plans to release 3 Sets each year.
I myself have purchased a few starter decks and managed to grab a booster case before they sold out, but I’m curious what you think? Do you think Star Was: Unlimited will succeed? Or do you think it will go the same route as Star Wars: Destiny? Let us know in the comments!
