Starfield Has Been Updated With Improvements & The Arrival of 60 FPS

The newStarfieldupdate, known as1.11.36or theMayupdate, is now available forXbox Series X/S and PC. Players on the latter platform have been able to enjoy all the improvements a little earlier thanks to the Beta feature onSteam. Consoles are the most benefited due to the fps unlock.

The patch brings many highly desired features, for example it is now possible to adjust performance onXbox Series Xby setting target frame rate with options for 30, 40, 60 fps or no limits onVRRscreens; performance or graphics prioritization, and the possibility to enable or disable vertical synchronization.

The update also includes highly requested improvements: enhanced surface map (more detail and real-time functionality), new options to fully customize the gaming experience, Survival or Extreme mode, customization of ship interiors (as if they were a base), inventory menu improvements, and finally the ability to changetraits(physical, personality, and past) when starting NG+.

And while the novelties reflected in the official notes are interesting, the most exciting things are in Starfield’s future. Important new features will arrive such as ground vehicles, official mod support, and obviously the much-anticipatedShattered Spaceexpansion. All in “the coming months”. In short: Bethesda is keeping its promises.

We’ve heard from many that you’d like to have more control over the graphic fidelity and performance on Xbox, similar to how PC players can customize their experience. We’re now enabling that on Xbox Series X with a few options that you can use to find the best fit for your playstyle and display.

For each of these, we highly recommend a Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) Display running at 120hz, and to verify your Xbox is setup to use it. If you have it setup this way, Starfield will now default to a frame rate target of 40, while keeping the priority for full visuals.
