Steelrising is Launching its First Content DLC “Cagliostro’s Secrets” This November

Steelrising launches its mesmerizing new DLC, Cagliostro’s Secrets this November. New encounters, weapons, and more!

The Automaton Uprising is upon us! Steelrising is an action soulslike game set in an alternate reality of 1789 France. Its backdrop is the French revolution, wherein Louis XVI’s machine army suppresses people. Players assume the role of Aegis, a highly intelligent automaton and loyal servant to the Queen.

This soulslike game had four very distinct playstyles with varying degrees of difficulty. Players could customize Aegis to be a tanky juggernaut, a balanced fighter, a quick rogue-type, or even a magical alchemist. Be sure to check out ourBest Class Guidefor more info on each.

Steelrising was initially launched back on September 9 and was met by fans of the genre with a reasonably positive impression. Those who enjoyed it, and craved more of this alternate reality, have something to look forward to. Coming on November 10th is the first (and only) planned DLC, “Cagliostro’s Secrets”.

The first, and hopefully not the last, content DLC will focus on one of the King’s most important agents, Comte de Cagliostro. He is holed up in the nearby Saint Louis Hospital and has barricaded himself and his followers there. It will be up to Aegis once more to battle through more automatons and discover Louis XVI’s dark secrets.

To challenge her are some new “Mesmer-Inspired machinery”. It isn’t quite clear what this means just now, but gives us the impression that the foes will have some illusion or mysticism attached to them. We’ve had fantasy and science fiction so far in Steelrising, what’s a little magic added to the mix, right?

Cagliostro’s Secrets DLC for Steelrising will comprise one new major area and a new main quest attached to it. New side quests will also have players explore the Hospital and its surrounding areas. There will be 5 new weapons to collect (perhaps one per playstyle – theBodyguard,Alchemist,Dancer, andSoldier, and something hybrid) as well.

The DLC will also feature one new boss encounter (presumably Cagliostro himself), as well as tons of new enemies and variations of existing foes. We will get to interact with two new friendly characters as well.

Even though developer Spiders is hard at work on their next upcoming RPG,Greedfall 2, they are still focusing at least some attention on Steelrising. The team is aware of some issues that have been plaguing the mechanical soulslike and is adamant about fixing them.

The Cagliostro’s Secrets DLC for Steelrising will also bring about various fixes and improvements for the game. It should be safe to assume that this patch would arrive for all players, and not just those who purchase the expansion.

Some of the known issues include the Blacksmith and Friend of the People Achievements. There are also some minor audio and visual glitches, such as loot still emitting effects on the ground even though they’ve already been picked up. Talk about shinies.

Steelrising was one game that we enjoyed here on Fextralife. In ourSteelrising reviewback in September, we gave it an 8.3 overall, with the Audio and Visual Design giving being quite the highlight.

As quoted, “Steelrising is a well-thought-out action RPG, which will be recognized because of its fresh gameplay features. Not only do you get to experience challenging and exhilarating encounters against raging automatons, but you are also able to appreciate exploring the beautiful horrors caused by these abominations.”

Be sure to check out our bestTips and Tricks for Steelrisingas well if you’re planning on venturing out to join the Revolution. The base game costs $49.99 upfront for the standard edition. Bastille Edition (basically deluxe) will add the Discus Chain and Cagliostro’s Secrets DLCs for a total of $59.99 instead. Pretty good value overall for an additional $10.
