Sword Coast Legends Releases October 20th

After a series of Head Start access weekends in which people who pre-ordered were given an opportunity to test certain features,Sword Coast Legendsis set to release in full for PC on Tuesday, October 20th, with console versions coming later this year. Based in the Dungeons and Dragons setting of the Forgotten Realms, the top down action RPG developed by n-Space in collaboration with Digital Extremes brings the familiar pause and play of past D&D games like Baldur’s Gate to the modern era. The game can still be ordered at Steam’s pre-purchased price of 34.99 USD with a Deluxe Edition for 59.99 USD that features the following bonuses:

• Tome of knowledge (giving players a boost to theirattributesandabilities)• Order of the Burning CloakArmorandWeapons• Beholdermonsterfor Dungeon Masters• Lost Minesdungeontileset for Dungeon Masters• Specials Wisps for Dungeon Master cursors• Exclusive Hero forum badge• Exclusive Dungeon Master forum badge• Digital soundtrack of Sword Coast Legends

The single player campaign takes place in the northwest region of the continent of Faerun known as the Sword Coast, and centers specifically in the port city ofLuskan. The developers have promised a 30 hour story campaign that spans some of the more iconic regions of the continent. Future DLC support hints at further expansion, keeping the game in line with the release schedules of the tabletop game and the MMORPG Neverwinter. All pre-orders will be given the firstDLCRage of Demonsmodule for free.

The robustDungeon Master modeis the wild card in this game, and it’s something we’ve been able to play around with extensively during the Head Start access periods. You are given thetoolsto create a full campaign withquests,NPCs, and dungeons populated bytrapsandmonsters. The dungeons can be DM’d live against a party of players with DM’s also given the ability to assume direct control of bosses for added difficulty. We’ve already begun kicking around concepts of a Fexus dungeon full of torturous traps and devices, and we were pleasantly surprised with just how much content we were given to create with. While players should not expect a complete replacement of the tabletop experience, they can expect a fun build, share, play experience similar to genre pioneer Little Big Planet. The devs have promised continual support which takes the playerbase’s feedback in mind so we can anticipate further refinement.

The Forgotten Realms calls, and there is only one weapon that can truly bring peace to the land.
