The Ascent Best Builds: Rumbling Ravager Build (Hybrid)
The Ascent Best Builds: Rumbling Ravager Build (Hybrid)– In this The Ascent Build Guide, I’m going to show you myRumbling Ravager Build, which primarily uses ranged and melee weapons to crush enemies from afar and at point-blank range, respectively. I’ll share the Skills and Attributes you should focus on, the Augmentations you’ll pair with these, and the Tactical Gear, Weapons, and Armor that work well for thisBuild. If you’ve been looking for a way to incorporate the new melee weapons into your character while easily smashing enemies into pieces, then this guide is for you.
Quick Navigation
The Rumbling Ravager Build (Hybrid) specializes in dealing crippling damage from any range because of its high critical hit rate. Since you can freely switch between ranged and meleeWeapons, you have options about how you wish to approach every encounter. You can either stay behind cover for a certain timeframe or unabashedly charge towards huge crowds of enemies. Regardless of your choice, you have the advantage of going in heavily armed because of your gear andAttributedistribution.
With theLife Transfer Augmentation, you’re able to survive without worrying about your HP because every damage you deal grants healing. Additionally, withSpiderbots, you can summon large numbers of mechanical spiders to effectively follow around and explode on several targets in the vicinity. This lets you focus on annihilating powerful mechs using the Rock Crusher Metal Hammer.
Every time you level up, you gain 3 Skill Points, which you can then use to allocate to one or severalSkillsof your choice. Take note that you can also gain additional Skill points through exploration. Furthermore, each Skill influences Attributes that determine the effectiveness of yourAugmentationsor special abilities. For this Build, you’ll want to focus onWeapon Handling,Tactical Sense,Critical Hit Rate,Evasion,Vital Signs, andBody Battery. Compared to the others, the Rumbling Ravager utilizes a variety of Skills to maximize their effectiveness from any range.
At earlier levels, you’ll have to manage the points you’ll be investing in each of these Skills as it differs every now and then based on the weapons you equip. So if you have not yet finished theMain Missions, you’ll need to stick with 2 ranged weapons for now. Afterward, you will gain access to theCyber Heist DLC, which is your playground to loot all of the melee weapons available in the game. I’d prefer to start with Weapon Handling, Tactical Sense, Critical Hit Rate, and Evasion.
Weapon Handling is a must-have Skill in every Build because it significantly improves your reload and weapon swap abilities. These are crucial traits since they can turn the tide inCombatso remember to invest at least 10 points into it. What syncs well with Weapon Handling are Tactical Sense and Critical Hit Rate. Tactical Sense lets you trigger your chosenTactical Gearmore often, and it’s going to matter for this Build a lot due to how high the required corresponding recharge rate is. The greater the damage you deal with them, the quicker your Tactical Gear becomes available for use.
Critical Hit Rate, on the other hand, considerably improves your chances of inflicting critical damage by targeting the weak spots of your targets, making encounters much more efficient to deal with regardless of who you’re facing.
Next, there’s Evasion to easily dodge incoming attacks. We won’t be allocating too many points to Vital Signs at the beginning so it’s important to at least have this Skill as a means of protecting ourselves from taking too much damage. Coupled with crouching behind covers, you should be able to defend yourself properly until such time that you gain access to melee weapons.
When you finally gain access to Cyber Heist, you’ll have enough Skill points (about 15 each) to invest in Vital Signs and Body Battery, which boost your max HP and Energy capacity, respectively. Since you’re going to spend half the time up close and personal against enemies, it’s important to have as much HP as possible. Now, what’s amazing with melee weapons is unlike ranged weapons, they each have a special attack in place of aiming down the sights. These attacks consume Energy, making Body Battery essential for Melee Builds.
Overall, it’s best to maximize points at 20 for Weapon Handling, Tactical Sense, Critical Hit Rate, and Evasion while allocating at least 15 points in Vital Signs and Body Battery. For spare points, you may wish to invest about 10 points intoAimingif you were to wield theOverwhelmer Machine Gunversus theEBR EnforcerBurst Rifle, which utilizes homing bullets. In total,Cyberneticsshould be your highest Attribute, followed byBiometrics, and thenMotoricsorFrame.
When it comes to special abilities, you’ll want to focus on Augmentations that utilize and considerably develop your Cybernetics Attribute to the fullest, while taking your Build’s critical damage as well as the long and close-range playstyles into account. As such, it’s best to obtain the Life Transfer and Spiderbots Augmentations.
Life Transfer lets you mark enemies by using nanite leaches to your advantage. Dealing damage against marked targets restores your HP, making it essential to your survival. Given how densely-packed the world is after the release of the Cyber Heist DLC, this Augmentation is relevant now more than ever. Since your Cybernetics is high, you’ll be able to mark a huge number of enemies so it would be impossible for your HP to continually go down even as you’re hammering them with your melee weapon.
Another impressive Augmentation is Spiderbots, which allows you to deploy multiple exploding spider bots that will automatically go after nearby targets. Within a few seconds, nearly half of them will have been obliterated into smithereens. Spiderbots is effective with Life Transfer, especially in cases when you’re not only overwhelmed by the influx of enemies in the area but also by the bots and mechs you’re dealing with. Remember that the higher the value of your Cybernetics, the greater the number of spider bots used.
Unlike Augmentations,Modulesare meant to enhance your passive abilities. For this Rumbling Ravager Build since you’re going to deal with enemies at point-blank range and from afar, you’ll want to equip theVitasigns BoosterandJavelin Dash Mods.
Vitasigns Booster enhances your max HP to improve survivability, especially when you attack targets using your melee weapon because you’re most exposed in the sense that you don’t have the comfort of staying hidden behind covers. Meanwhile, Javelin Dash lets you move nimbly by charging at a rapid pace instead of rolling on the ground, making it challenging for your enemies to hit you.
Because of your loadout, you can choose two types of weapons to swap in between combat. For both your Primary and Secondary Weapons, selecting at least one that deals an incredible amount of Physical Damage should be sufficient in destroying enemies.
For your Primary Weapon, the best choices continue to be the EBR Enforcer and the Overwhelmer. The EBR Enforcer is an impressive Energy Burst Rifle that does the job for you since it has homing bullets, which automatically target enemies. Because of this, you no longer have to invest any Skill points into Aiming, so you can choose to maximize Vital Signs and Body Battery instead.
Moreover, it inflicts Energy Damage, which deals decent damage againstLightandHeavy Monobotsas well as mech bosses. Since its reload speed is naturally fast and once you max out Weapon Handling, you’ll be able to reload much more efficiently. And finally, you can easily loot the EBR Enforcer at lower levels.
An alternative to this ranged weapon is the Overwhelmer, which deals Physical and Fire Damage. Because it doesn’t utilize homing bullets, you’ll need to invest 10 points into Aiming to stabilize and reduce theMachinegun’sbullet spread, making it deadlier. If you have this equipped, you’ll be able to obliterate regular enemies such as theTurbo KeeshandTurbo Thugsbut you’ll have to switch to your melee weapon once you’re up against mechs and bots to amplify the damage you deal. This brings us to our Secondary Weapon, which is the Rock Crusher.
Even if the Rock Crusher specializes in dealing Physical Damage only, it’s an extremely potent melee weapon, allowing you to one-hit the majority of foes because of how massive it is. Coupled with Critical Hit Rate, your normal attack can often reach up to 2,000-3,000 damage per target. If you’re quite far away, you can still initiate combat using your slam special attack, which sends shockwaves in front of you to stagger them. What I would usually do though is to charge toward groups of enemies, and then smash them off one by one. More often than not, I wouldn’t even need to trigger my Augmentations because of how strong the Rock Crusher is.
Similar to Augmentations, Tactical Gear provides you with a special ability, which can be in the form of grenades, robots, or turrets, that aid you in fights. Since Tactical Sense is maximized, you’ll want to select the best Tactical Gear available regardless of its charge rate. Due to the melee weapon we’re wielding for this Build, theAT4 Auto Turretworks very well with it.
Even if the AT4 Auto Turret has a resource cost of 1,000 Tactical Charge, it helps you obliterate enemies at close range, preventing you from getting overwhelmed. What’s more, is you can summon 2-3 of these turrets at a given time, especially if the area is densely-packed since you’re able to recharge this Tactical Gear quickly. You can even combine it with Spiderbots to efficiently put down your enemies.
When it comes toArmor, you’ll be focusing on acquiring the best head, torso, and legsEquipmentthat’ll defend you from Physical, Energy, Digital, and Fire Damage. At earlier levels, you’ll mostly encounter enemies like humans,Ferals, and Turbo Thugs that deal Physical Damage but as you continue to explore the sections of each tier, you’ll have to protect yourself from stronger creatures as well. Additionally, the following gear provides you with Skill and Attribute boosts to further enhance your Augmentations.
For your headgear, equip one that’ll provide you with Critical Hit Rate or Tactical Sense bonuses such as the Shock TH Essential or Elite Commander, respectively. As a result, you further improve the chances of dealing critical damage using your ranged and melee weapons. With the Shock TH Essential, you evenly protect yourself from all damage types whereas, with the Elite Commander, you amplify your Tactical Sense to raise the turret’s recharge rate. The latter equipment also reduces the Physical Damage you take but note that it lowers your resistance to Digital and Fire Damage.
For the torso, you should acquire Armor that defends yourself against the majority of damage types, if not all, like the Brimstone Project. This is very helpful since more than 50% of the time, you’ll be rushing towards targets to attack them in the melee range, leaving you vulnerable to incoming attacks.
Lastly, for the legs, you ought to wear the P-55 Propulsion Protectors II because not only does this have a decent resistance distribution, but it also grants boosts to Weapon Handling so you have the option to respec your Attributes and invest points in other Skills.
Note that you’ll continue to find better Armor as you complete more and moreMissions. The purple ones, followed by gold gear, are the rarest and most powerful types of Armor you can equip. With this Build, you’ll want to constantly improve Cybernetics, which enhances your critical hits and raises your Tactical Charge.
Unlike Armor, Weapons require Basic, Advanced, and Superior Components to improve overall damage. These components are obtained from chasing afterBountiesand chests, the locations of which are found on the map. Be sure to visit theGunsmithto upgrade your ranged and melee weapons to make them more effective in combat.
While you have 2 ranged weapons equipped, you can go with the EBR Enforcer and Overwhelmer or another Burst Rifle known as theABR Commander. The ABR Commander is effective at dealing Physical Damage plus, it also utilizes homing bullets.
If you’re wielding the EBR Enforcer as your Primary Weapon, you should stay behind cover until the mech or bot’s HP is reduced by half. You can then charge towards them with the Rock Crusher to reduce the time at which you remain vulnerable to the attacks of other enemies. Should you be swarmed as you’re approaching them, remember to trigger Life Transfer as this guarantees your survivability.
Lastly, when you trigger the AT4 Auto Turret, remember to stay within the AoE rather than running towards your targets because of its short range. Otherwise, you’ll not only waste its attacks but also the corresponding Tactical Charge, resulting in a slower recharge rate for the next turret. Alternatively, you can lure enemies towards it and summon additional turrets to surround them as you’re crushing the others to bits and pieces.
