Editor at Fextralife. I look for the substantial in gaming and I try to connect video games to the emotions and stories they elicit. I love all things culture and history and have an odd fondness for the planet Jupiter. I think my dogs are pretty awesome too.
They sold all the dlc at a cheap price separately I’m sure they will do it again. This is done in the in game store so you can take advantage of the bundle, I’ll let you know next time I see one up.
To clarify, Being casual in an mmo context means you aren’t at max level doing high level pvp or have 5 alts with specialised functions that you level up all the way or spend your time farming endgame for gear in order to top leaderboards. With that context, The base game is so big that the dlc price is almost irrelevant, I didn’t play it for months and I never bothered to buy imperial city etc.
Morrowind looks great and adds a lot, or at least it promises 30 hours of content, plus trial, plus new pvp mode, plus new class. It’s expensive, yes, so I’m planning to buy it with the crowns I got from being vip
The new class looks like it can summon bears.. Cyrodiil swarmed by armies of bears. My god, what have they done!?
P.S. LET ME FINISH MY BACKLOG GD
What I did get the previous DLC was buy the sub to the game, which gets you 1500 crowns per month for 15$. While the sub is active, you can access the DLC zones. Then I bought the DLC with crowns after a few months of subbing. I think all the DLC is 5500 crowns, minus the Shadows of the Hist DLC, which is really only 2 dungeons, and I think is 2000 crowns. So for 7500 crowns (5 months sub, 15$/month) you get access to the DLC for those months, and can buy the DLC later with saved crowns. Honestly, the only thing in the crown store that’s worth buying is the DLC.
I guess I can understand you. I’ve just been having a crud day and took your first reply a little too personally. I apologize.
I can see your view point I suppose. But I still feel like at least price wise it’s not geared towards newer players or people like me who want to dive in. I wouldn’t consider myself a casual player with this game. Of the times i’ve attempted to play this game i’ve spent several hours each day for several days playing it. I’ve actually restarted a few times since I keep running into the same issue.
the base game on xbox right now is 30$ USD and the gold edition is 60$. if the gold pack could be bought seperately i’d consider that but I can’t at least on xbox that isn’t possible. I guess I just wanted to get all the dlc at a good price. and 120$ doesn’t seem like a good deal.
That’s because MMOs are crack. It’s not good sense to complain to your dealer.
In this case, the question is if the game-priced expansion is in fact equal in value to a game, content-wise. I think it is, if I’m reading the article right?
I wasn’t dismissing your issue, I’m just saying that it’s content geared towards two camps. I’m on an iPad it’s hard to type was trying to be succinct, not dismiss you.
They are saying they made a new starter zone, so new players do get something out of buying this edition that includes the price of the base game.So for usd 60 new players can get the base game and the expansion, for usd 40 players can get the expansion. I understand this isn’t necessarily affordable but I think it’s geared to invested players or completely new players, not casual players. To be honest as a casual player I do not know why you would want any dlc, not a new starting zone. Unless you want morrowind itself. I’m sure there will be sales – all the dlc were bundled for a 15 use sale earlier last year. They do sales very often and the base game was as cheap as 20 usd at some points last year.
As I had mentioned players who’ve already invested into this game a lot it’s not a big deal. I’ve no doubt the quality of the dlc will be worth the price. I just don’t agree with how they are choosing to handle it. IMO they’d make a lot more money and new players if they made a deal where you could get the base game and all the dlc expansions with the new one.
and this unfortunately screws me since I don’t have 120$ lying around (which is how much it would cost me to get all dlc+ the morrowind.) and I likely wouldn’t be able to afford buying them individually through out the year either. Lastly and i know this is nitpicky but I didn’t like your opening part. yeah I won’t buy it. But it would have at least been nice to acknowledge my issue even if you don’t sympathize with me.
Well then you don’t buy it. I have gotten almost three years of playtime out of my initial pc purchase, I have a VIP sub so I accessed the dlc that way. The new expansion brings a new class, which if you like alts means a real lot more to do, it also adds new pvp modes, and a trial. These are things crafted towards both new and loyal or very invested players. The casual fan base does not need it and can play with no dlc whatsoever so it’s not really a problem.
EDIT: the upgrade would cost me the price of 2 dlcs for this game and their are 4 dlcs. which would cost me 80$ USD to get all seperately. Or I could buy the gold edition. Which would be me re buying the game but for 60$ I get the base game and all 4 dlcs.
None of the editions that come with the new expansion have the dlcs just the base game. the more expensive versions that come along with the new expansion just give you some random in game things and some out of game things. they are bundling this as a brand new game basically. Yet they still offer the older bundles which are a much better deal. anyway you spin it It’s a rip off.
I suppose if you are already a person who owns all 4 dlcs and are heavily invested in the game dropping another 40$ probably isn’t much. But to a new player or someone like me who’s only got the base game none of what is being offered alongside the new expansion is enticing. Especially when so many other good things are coming out in the next few months.
It’s the same model of expansions as most other MMO’s, where you get a massive content drop and pay to access it.
I really don’t get the big deal about it. World of Warcraft does the same thing and no-one complained about that.
So let me get this straight. If I already own the base game this expansion alone will cost me 40$ usd? screw that.If they were bundling it with all other dlc’s for 40-60$ i’d gladly do that.
A lot of awesome things happen earlier in the year:
February: Nioh, Horizon, Torment: Tides of NumeneraMarch: Nier, Mass Effect Andromeda, Dark Souls 3 DLC2April: TBAMay: The SurgeJune: ESO Morrowind
I’ve let my TESO character hibernate for a very long time now, probably since DS3 launched. I only log on to collect my “deliveries” although I’ve forgotten how to use the materials and frankly, how to play the game.
I intend to return once the housing patch launches although maybe not immediately since first quarter sees an avalanche of great PS4 games that will Shirley bury me. Berseria, Nioh, Horizon ZD. I don’t know how to deal with this much awesomeness. Woe is me! And then Persona 5?! No one can deal with all of this gaming greatness. Even if I quit my job there still wouldn’t be enough time. So, TESO sometime, yes, but when?
Oh, and to add to my burden, Bandai reveals Ni No Kuni 2 will launch this year. I can’t even! It’s just as well that I can’t pre-order the Switch.
You know, while I may not like ESO all that much, I have to respect just how much love and effort they’re always putting into it.
Their players are well taken care of. As far as MMOs go, I mean.
No no no no no no no no no no no no, screw that, nope nope nope, let the very code of those sky devils burn in a digital fire.
That noise, THAT UNHOLY NOOOOOOOIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSE!!!
This year keeps getting better and better for games.
I tried watching the Twitch stream they did earlier, but the “load 10 seconds of video then pause” drove me insane.
June 6th gives me time to sort my inventory, level my sorcerer and nightblade to 50, get to max champion points, clear a character slot…
Morrowind, during the construction of Vivec’s City… I really, really hope the cliffracers are back too. Nostalgia trip, here we go.
As if she hasn’t made it clear any time she could bring it up. Yeah, by far her favorite Elder Scrolls.
I’m personally more interested in the Skywind and Skyblivion fan games being made. Look great with the Skyrim graphics.
THE HYPE IS REAL!!!
OMAGAD YESSSSSS
may be interested in this as the region is home to his favorite Elder Scrolls (I think?)
