The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road Chapter Revealed, Coming in June 2024

Unexpectedly, the tropical jungles of Valenwood have encroached on a third of the territory. The Count is in search of reasons behind it and to prevent further loss of his domain.
This newly sprung-up forest is being called Dawnwood by the Wood Elves. However, it may be the least of your problems as Ithelia has been recently spotted, the Forgotten Prince. Her followers are already wreaking havoc in her name. Why is she back? What do her Scions have planned for her?
The next expansion takes place in the West Weald zone, located to the west ofCyrodiil, between theGold Coast,Reaper’s MarchandCraglorn. Players of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion might find this region’s name familiar and its main city, Skingrad. Additionally, a series of “capper quests” are accessible to players who finish both the Necrom and Gold Road chapters. However, Bethesda emphasizes that, like most ESO chapters, Gold Road can be experienced as an independent story and doesn’t necessarily require the completion of Necrom to be enjoyed.
The major feature of Scribing will be coming to the game. This acts as a “precursor” to Oblivions spellcrafting system. Initially, Scribing will enable ESO players to personalise skills from weapon and world skill lines, using a mix of up to three modifiers, with plans for further expansion in the future. The developer has created a new ability for every weapon skill line and then some.
They introduce Grimoires which act as newskillsthat can be customised to the player’s playstyle along with its base function. One example given is the Bow Grimoire’s ability called Vault, which allows players to shoot the ground to make a quick backflip manoeuvre. On top of this are three Script slots, which can change up the ability’s specifics. The example given for the Primary slot is adding Poison to Vault, making its AOE damage deadly and changing its resource cost. Or you could add a healing AOE help support your group.
The secondary skill can add unique options such as a stack of the Hawk Eye bonus, giving a boost for other bow abilities for a short period of time. The Tertiary effect acts as a buff or debuff to this skill alone, examples given are Minor Maim, Minor Expedition or Minor Vulnerability. Inks act as consumable reagents that can help change or scribe an ability.
This expansion also introduces a new Styling mechanic, enabling players to alter the visual effects of their abilities. At launch, 22 styles will be available, and Bethesda has indicated that players can acquire these styles through standard gameplay.
