Homestead, theplayer housingfeature of theElder Scrolls Onlineis now live for players on the PC Public Test Server. Read on for an overview of the new feature and tab over for the detailed patch notes regarding player housing.
At launch, you will have access to nearly 40 unique homes. You will complete a quest to receive a small room at an inn and you can expand from there. The homes you can acquire are themed after the game’s 10racesand can come furnished or unfurnished. You can purchase any of them you’d like regardless of your race oralliance. Imperial style homes do require the Imperial Edition of the game to own. Players can own multiple homes and they are available to all of the characters on your account.
Nearly all the homes can be bought with in-game gold. Unfurnished ones can be purchased with crowns or you can buy them for gold as well as complete an achievement that earns the approval to move into the neighborhood. You can also buy fully decorated versions in theCrown Store, and the furnishings can all be changed as you wish. You will be able to either craft decor using existingskills, or buy new furniture and decorations for your house from vendors and the Crown Store and can use the housing editor to move them all around. You can keep all manner of goodies there and host friends for gatherings.

Acquiring a HomeThere are three ways to acquire a home in Homestead:
Home PreviewingThe easiest way to preview homes you have not yet purchased is to go to the new “Houses” section in the Crown Store, highlight the home you want to check out, and click “Preview”. This will teleport you to the home so you can do a walkthrough while making your purchase decision. You can also preview homes from the Collections window, and also by simply finding the home in the world and clicking on its door. Previewing brings you into a personal experience where you can explore the prospective home, including both furnished and unfurnished versions.
The Housing EditorThe housing editor contains multiple tabs and categories for ease of asset selection.
Home DecorationFurnishings are a new kind of inventory item that may be placed in a home, and can be identified by the word “Furnishing” on their tooltip. These function like any other inventory item until it is time to place them in a home.
Specialty FurnishingsMany types of housing objects have additional functionality when placed, including the following:
Furnishing SourcingHome furnishings can be found from a number of sources, including:
Furnishing CraftingYou can now craft furnishings for yourself, your friends, or to sell to others!
Housing PermissionsYou can choose to allow or restrict access to each of your homes as desired, and may set different permissions for each of your guilds and on a per-individual basis. You can even ban specific individuals, while allowing the rest of a guild access (just in case you want to hang out with most of your guildies, but Tony keeps spilling mead on your favorite rug).
Housing AchievementsIn Homestead, you can expect to see a variety of new achievements for everything from decorating your home in a certain way, to learning an impressive number of furniture plans, to beating up Target Skeletons. Of particular note, we’ve added four new titles:

I watched a video on this. I pretty much lost interest in TESO after Cadwell’s silver and gold and only check in to buy stuff like the purple dyes couple days ago. And of course DS3 came out.
But I think Homestead will bring me back. I loved my 3 mansions in Skyrim, and I tweeted ESO when it first came out that they should have houses and seasonal pets and mounts, as it would rake in money for them. They adopted both my suggestions.
